Convoy best flood option for under $40 USD?

5700-6500k preferred.
Conventional reflector no optics.
I’ve got all of my foreseeable throw needs covered and more!

Thanks!

The best overall Convoy flooder under $40 is the S21D (quad 519A) in my opinion.

However, since you specified that you wanted a reflector and a cool emitter, the M21B with XHP70.3 5700K R9050 (orange peel reflector) is a solid choice. The tint on that emitter in particular is very good (mine has a duv of -0.0012.)

If desired, you can always increase the floodiness of this light by applying a layer of dc-fix to the front and/or back of the lens. I also do this with my M26C (FC40) and it’s a pleasant Convoy flooder as well, with the main caveat being unconventional battery size (it runs 26650 by default, and 26800 with the extender accessory.)

Maybe the S12 with 519A emitters could be called a flooder? Seems like it might be. I don’t have one to verify.

The smallest reflectors with the biggest emitters would be the floodiest, although Convoy doesn’t offer something like the S21A with their biggest emitters like FC40, XHP70.3 HI, or LHP531. S21A can be made to accept large emitters, it just requires a custom centering ring, and for the reflector opening to be enlarged.

Why a reflector for a flooder?

Just trying to replicate the near perfect [to me] flood of a old Convoy S2+ XM-L. Even though it got hot and the regulation could have been better, the beam suited me perfectly for bank fishing and as a headlight on evening pit bike rides down rural roads. The broad beam allowed me to spot and track the darting white-tail deer before it was to late. I dare say it even had a modest degree of mid-range throw. I find the throwy hotspot beams border very distracting.
It’s possible that I won the emitter lottery and got a over-achiever [IDK].

The M3-C XHP 70.2 or M21F are very good choices.
