So I know how to switch modes. But for some reason my C8 never seems to blink while in Low mode so that I can get rid of the bloody strobe mode.
Any thoughts?

Switch to low mode, when it blinks, turn off for a minute or two.
Except that it isn’t blinking. That is the problem….
I should have fully read your post, have had that happen to me also, I don’t know.
It should in low blink after 10-30 seconds on time in that mode. It should be obvious. If it does this, turn it off and back on again. That will change the mode groups.
If it doesn’t do this. Are you able to take a pick of the driver? There are two types used in Convoy C8’s. The older one has 4 stars on the board which you can bridge to also affect mode options. The latter drivers don’t have these.
And lastly, where did you buy it from and have you tried contacting them. If it was sold as a 2 group mode torch and won’t change mode groups, then it is defective.
Did some searching and came across this thread and this is the same as the driver in my C8 from banggood. Anybody got info about that Nanjg 105c driver?
Pardon me for not repeating myself, but I’d like to offer you the same comment as on the other thread.
THANK YOU and Mitko for bringing these to everyone’s attention. We’ll all be more cautious in dealing with these vendors, I’m sure.
Son of a……got in a second one I ordered from….hold on….tmart….same driver and solid plug!
So Banggood have this to say. “After we change the supplier, the flashlight only 5 modes”
Apparently they didn’t update their product description until after they had sold a bunch of the new 5 mode only ones.
They want to offer me $8 back. But I think that a full refund is in order. Can someone help put me in touch with Neal? Maybe if I talk to him I’ll get better results than with their customer service who haven’t answered me back in about a week.
Thanks.
Is your Convoy C8 the newer version one, or the older?
Simon does offer modes customization for the new version Convoy C8 as you can see in the product page . My guess is that Banggood probably requested Simon to send them the one with 5 modes driver, and if this is really the case then you cannot change the mode group by yourself anymore.
Seems like a good deal to me, you will only have $7.54 to $8.92 in a Convoy C8, depending on which led you got.
Or just take the $8 refund and go buy a new driver that has the modes you want.
Fasttech was out of stock so I got three from Banggood - and they don't have the no blinkie option.
i have this mode problem with the 2nd flashlight i bought from banggood it was a XML2 U2-1A
there is no spring on the driver for the battery and it wont blink on low mode
also it switched off early without warning when the battery wasn’t fully discharged.
can anyone suggest good a driver that will fit that has no blinks and can supply more than 3A in high/turbo mode?
There are two nice drivers with 3.04 amps and that can be set to have no blinkies. I like their moonlight modes.
From KD is
http://www.kaidomain.com/Product/Details.S020073
and from intl-outdoor.com is
http://intl-outdoor.com/qlite-reva-71358-multiple-modes-circuit-board-304a-p-710.html
I wouldn't want to go too far above 3 amps with an aluminium star.
i just ordered 2 from intl-outdoor
thanks
now the bug has kicked in and i have started looking at emitters to complement the new driver >:) arghh!
Mountain electronics has very nice drivers, you can even have customized modes.
Especially their option with dr jones gruppydrv 22 group firmware is very interesting
Even cheaper you could order just a preflashed mcu from RMM and swap it out. He should be able to post it in a first class envelope.
I just got a S2 from Fastech and no way to change mode group on this one either. No quick flash in low mode. ![]()
