There are different 12 group drivers. There is also an 8A buck that I would get for the SFT40
Does anyone have any “numbers” on the specs of C8+ SFT40 (12 Groups) w/ 8A BUCK Driver? i.e. measured lumens; candela; throw
I’m a statistics kind of nerd; very analytical. (right brainer, if memory serves)
Thanks!
According to this, a SFT40 6500K would have approximately 2400 Lumens at 8A:
You can read more on the SFT40 here:
Thank you for the info. Would anyone happen to know, or have any info on “issues” with the 8A BUCK Drivers stepping down way to quickly? I’ve already ordered the C8+ with SFT40 & 8A BUCK DRIVER…now I’m concerned it will have functionality issues from day one.
Afaik, only the new 5A buck has issues with the step-down. Neither of the 8a bucks (22mm of 17mm) should have such issue.
Thank you for your input. I’ll try and locate the exact threads where I read this; stay tuned please.
Ah yes, I remember that post now and piercingthedarkness’s discussion on the convoy thread. I think you shouldn’t worry about the 17mm 8a buck performance specifically. PTD even posted in the thread that although the 8A 17mm buck still exhibited the immediate stepdown issue - it was still better performance than the linear driver (which would be your alternative if you chose not to go with the buck driver).
Now the issue with the new 22mm 8a I wasn’t aware of. Damn, the old one was really good. It’s an effect of chip shortages in China I guess. But that’s not the one you’re going for.
So in summary, yes it looks like the 8a 17mm buck has “issues”, but it’s still better overall performance compared to the alternative which would be the linear drivers.
Well said; that was basically my take on it as well…step down issues but better than alternatives. Thanks again
