That is very attractive pricing. I might pick some up. Thanks for prompting Simon to relist them!

These look to be made with a different process… stamped instead of cut from the sheet? Is there much of a performance difference between using one of Convoy’s vs a Noctigon or a Kaidomain mcpcb?

You’re Welcome!
The only difference between these and the noctigons is the Gold plating, Noctigon & KD boards are gold plated, but Convoy Boards are not.
I use them too, and I can confirm that they are Direct Thermal Path

Yeah, I don’t doubt the DTP part. It’s just how the bottom looks - it’s not as smooth and flat as some others. I was wondering if that would have any measurable impact on heat transfer.

I have 16mm Boards and they are Perfectly flat, I don’t know about the 20mm ones, I’ll update you when they arrive

you can always sand on 600 sand paper to get them flat or even polish down to 5000

Yup, true. I think I’ll order a set of each XP size to check them out. For that price, you can’t really go wrong.

Lapping does wonders in the world of CPU heatsinks. I don’t see why it won’t work on copper boards for LED, which are easier to sand.

I ordered some.
On November 27. 2017!
Hope they will find their way to me, soon

Is there pre-applied solder on the dtp board?

yes the boards are with very thin layer of solder, but you should get more on them when reflowing

Ok. Thanks, Lexel. What do you suggest would give the best result? Isn’t it better to just remove the thin layer and apply a new solder?

Its a VERY thin layer, there is no way you could remove something with soldering iron maybe only by sanding and that would destroy the star.
Get yourself soldering paste, put small amount under the emitter and on each contact that you are going to use for soldering wires later. Works nice every time…

Yeah, I was thinking of completely removing the thin layers with soldering wick, as you heat the board with something like a temperature controlled slow cooker…then apply new layers of no-clean, leaded solder paste.
