Simon, will there be a M26D flashlight? Just like M21D but for 26650/26800 batteries?

M26D seems too similar to M3-C. It’s just that the head of the M26D is slightly larger.

I just ordered the 3x21A SST40 5000K. Would like to know if the XHP-50.2 is a future product? I like extra lumens, slightly more flood. At 21 amps a triple should push just over 8,000 lumens. Or a single SBT90.2. I like the triple 21700 format over the quad 18650 and would like to stick to this one for mods and improvements. No real reason why, but I do. As far as the machining marks on the flat top adapter, I like them. It adds a little more character to the light.

Yes, but that color is so beautiful. Just like with 219b’s, you lose some lumens, but gain really nice colored light. Can’t have all.

I prefer 3*GT FC40, which is easier to obtain and lower cost.

I first try to slow down the entire process of ramping, and the entire time will be doubled. If this method is not ideal, the ramping speed below 50% current remains unchanged, and the ramping speed above 50% current becomes slower.

Yes...that's why we are discussing Lux-Perpetua UI. Those ramp speeds in infinite and 4mode are terrible.

If you could speed up at least 4mode that would be great since you have problems with infinite mode.

Simon. With regard to UI development and rights, I think it’s really time to embrace some of the simple options like Lux-P is offering. This code is fairly refined and shares basic functions with some of BLFs favorite and most popular UIs. It’s simple enough for your products and general customer base, too.

At the very least, using Atmel MCUs and adding flashing pads would allow those more advanced users to be able to customize it for themselves. I personally hesitate and don’t buy any light with a UI that is closed source and not refined like BLF-derived code.

WOW, that’s a bit more than I thought you would go. Any idea of the wattage you’re looking at? It definitely has the mass and cells to pull it off. Looking forward to seeing the specs on that monster. Thanks!

Simon, have you ever made the S2+ in brass (yellow copper)? I don't remember ever seeing or hearing about one but I would love to own it someday! I do remember the smooth red copper one a few years ago but did not buy.

I know brass is slower to machine than aluminum and more expensive but I think it would be a very nice option. The couple of brass lookalikes from other companies I have seen have been poor quality.

I don’t like brass very much, it is very heavy, and the thermal conductivity is not as high as aluminum alloy. At present, the price of various metal materials is rising very sharply. At least for this period of time, I will not consider producing brass or copper flashlights.

Yes, agreed to all, but it is beautiful and sometimes the extra weight has a "premium" feel that people like very much. I think S2+ in brass with metal clicky and maybe SST40 with OP reflector...moderate power like 2 amps (7135 x5 or x6 or other driver) would suit it well. Would make very nice holiday gifts. Maybe someday a special small batch for holidays?

You have so many lights now and more coming! It must be hard to keep track of everything. It's a pleasure to see Convoy grow and all new models are much more important than any brass. :)

12V is only the typical value. In fact, the voltage of 12V XHP70.2 and FC40 is different.
I did not directly apply the 12V XHP35 HI driver to the FC40 because the actual voltage is different.

SBT90.2 for sure.

Something high cri would be cool, but for 3x21700 it only makes sense for it to be very high power. FC40 wouldn’t be nice in an aspheric with it’s multi-chip setup. Ironically since it was mentioned recently, an MTG2 would be really nice. Too bad there isn’t a modern SBT70 in Hi CRI. Boy that’d be the cats arse!

EDIT: Ohhhh. How about the new XHP50.3 HI? Should be available in many CCTs and CRI values. As always, don’t bother with stocking hiCRI unless it’s below BBL or at least VERY close.

(…) Hank experimented with a simple ramping UI a while back, insisting NarsilM and Anduril were too complicated. Eventually he converted to the full rich UI of Anduril/Anduril 2.

If the stock e-switch Convoy UI had all the proper basic features I’d look for, then probably wouldn’t need to upgrade:

• proper non-linear ramping over the ideal time duration (easy to get from Anduril source code)

• 1 click ON to last used level, 1 click OFF

• Press&Hold from OFF goes to lowest

• ramping Up and Down work on press&hold, standard methods to reverse direction

• dbl click from either OFF or ON goes to max or turbo

• support for a lighted switch LED, with power LVD support (turn it OFF when batt is low)

If they can’t do smooth ramping, then “n” fixed levels would do, but better if at least 5, 7-8 may be roughly ideal.

Provided that Simon uses Atmel chips on his drivers, I wonder if he was interested in my UI approach I once presented here on BLF:

If Simon even were to provide flashing pads on his drivers, customers could conveniently flash their own firmware onto Convoy flashlights (NarsilM, Andúril 1/2, this “basic UI” shown below, …). If he even were to use the new AVR-1 chips (816, 1616, 3216) he could benefit from factory-calibrated voltage and temperature readout.

All it takes is:

• some helpful member(s) doing the necessary changes on the source code (this started to happen on the above mentioned thread already)

• a manufacturer willing to invest a few days of time and willing to step up to a more sophisticated but simply-kept user interface

On a side note:

Unfortunately, I have not succeeded in winning over some of the popular manufacturers I am familiar with for this UI, no matter how hard I tried. Their initial and overwhelming interest has finally gone into oblivion.

At least we have a common idea, we want the UI to be simple and not monotonous. Even if there is no flashlight manufacturer to use your UI, at least it is of great reference value. Thank you for your contribution.
If the manufacturer only uses the specified chip, it is actually not conducive to production, especially the current chip is facing scarcity and rising prices, the manufacturer must seek multiple suppliers and consider compatibility and accuracy issues. The manufacturer does not want to disclose the code for commercial protection.

I have produced some extension tubes for S11 M3-C. Although it can be installed on L7 L6, the two 26800s in series are still short because of the copper pillars for the positive drive. I will produce extension tubes of suitable size. .
