Convoy L21A sbt90.2 20A BUCK driver (Any specs; reviews)

I’ve seen a couple of reviews on the Convoy L21A vs L21B; with a few different options. However, I can’t seem to find info on the candelas (and throw distance ), lumens, and/or run times, etc., on the Convoy L21A sbt90.2 with 20A (22mm?) BUCK driver.

Does anyone have these detailed specs or any other pertinent info on this combo?

Thank you in advance for assisting me!

probably around 4-5k lumens, and the K1 is 420kcd so id guess the L21 would hit ~350kcd maybe? sbt90 at 20a approximately
sft90 should give very very similar performance (same amps and voltage, same die size) and be a lot cheaper. tho the sbt iveheard has lower forward voltage which is better for regulation i think

IF my goal is: max throw with adequate spill; max lumens, but with approx 5000-4000 (instead of cool white at 650+) and I’ll use the premium Molicel p50b (60A 5000mAh) battery, and want the L21A as the host:

What would you recommend as far as emitter and driver, etc.?

Thank you!

I’m pretty sure Simon’s SBT90.2 are 5700K
A Cree XM-MR 5000K might be your best option in the 5000K range.

That, or the SFT42R 5000K, though there might be a risk of green hotspot center.

Otherwise, wait for Simon to release a round-die version of SFT90 that comes in all CCTs–this is in the works but might take a while to materialize.

isnt it a yellow hotspot thing tho? never heard of a green one.

It’s going to be a completely different emitter that has nothing to do with SFT-90.

Interesting possibilities; for sure. Having said that, patience is not my strong suit. Me wants it now! :joy:

I’m basically set on the L21A; as I personally LIKE the heft of it, and the fins, etc. It’s just “cool” looking! And if…IF, the weight and build structure contributes even a small amount to dissipating heat, even better.

I simply am trying to decide IF the sbt90.2 is in fact the best option for my usage wants….massive throw, but also as much lumens as possible (a super small tight beam is not necessary) with a close to 5000K’ish color rendering.

Sup?

I agree that the production is unrelated to SFT90. However, being a 3V 7070 emitter in the 10mm^2-ish LES class, a SFT90 is the best analogy available.

Yellow and green tint are sometimes just different perceptions of the same thing depending on your eye’s white balance. Positive duv looks green in high CCT, and yellow in low CCT.

Just wanted to provide a link to a review for the sbt90.2 in a Convoy L21A; using a FET 18A. (Perhaps the 20A Buck wasn’t available yet for this light??)

https://www.aliexpress.com/p/wiki/article.html?keywords=convoy-l21a-review

Anyway, IF this is a legit, honest review, it shows very positive performance attributes for this configuration!

Let me know your thoughts; and if anyone notices any “verifiable” falsehoods, etc. It seems legit; simply due to the fact WHY would someone go out of their way to promote someone else’s product?

Anyway, although it seems “legit” I’ll take it with a grain of salt for now until those more knowledgeable than I chime in.

Thanks!

This is almost 100% real stupid false review.
Possibly someone write it with chat gpt or similar Ai model and it is wrong in almost every aspect.
Sbt 90 isn’t samsung led and it doesn’t have 10000 lumens, 12 mode driver doesn’t have that power levels, Samsung 50E battery is not good choice for 18A fet driver…

Thank you! Much appreciated.

I have the L21A with sbt90.2 and love it.
But I have the older version I assume being I screwed it up putting the battery in backwards. Really sucks.

L21A SBT90.2 and SFT90 both perform similar at 1100m range at 4.5 - 5k lumens. The fet driver and new 20A buck driver deliver similar output at 100%.
