Looking to try the LHP73B. Only wanting to put it in a large flashlight that can handle more heat. Is there any significant difference between the L6 and L7?
I don’t own either but they use the same driver, reflector and lens so I think it’s just a matter of the aesthetic appearance.
L7 uses a 25mm LED MCPCB. If I remember corractly my (pretty old) silver L6 has a 20mm LED MCPCB.
This is old, so I guess OP has probably made a decision by now. But for anyone else looking, I own both the L6 and L7 and I’d say the primary difference (besides the emitters in them) is that the L7 looks and feels better than the L6. The L6 design, to me, seems comparatively crude.
I wish the L6 and L7 would drop the mechanical tail switch (or at least offer the option to).
My most used lights are some flavour of ramping driver with side e-switch, there’s a reason the maglite design was so popular.
I agree, and I also wish the M21G and M21J didn’t have a mechanical tail switch.

I think the L7 has a nicer host design though. I am not sure why Simon seems to like dual switches for these longer lights. Personally I don’t mind them but I still wonder why.
One advantage to this approach is the mechanical switch means no parasitic drain, and with a post on the head end of the light, no spring is being overly compressed from head-standing the light.
I modded my L6 to run on a single cell and the 25A L8 driver with a LHP73B.
I removed the switch part and 3d printed a plug for the tail switch.
It would be even nicer to have a shorter tube, but then it would be a different flashlight.
Anyway, it works like a treat!
I hate double switch lights, because you have to change the position in your hand to operate them.
