I want to buy a Convoy M21A but I’m in doubt about if I should go for the SST40 or XHP50.2 LED. Any advice to help me decide will be welcome.
I have M21A with sft40 and I try same flashlight with SST 40.
SFT 40 has better throw.
I think that XHP 50 is led which is more flood than throw.
XHP 50 has more power (lumens) than SST 40 and it is has less throw.
Convoy has 3 volt and 6 volt variation of XHP 50 in M21A host.
6 volt variant has 2 models XHP 50.2 and 50.3 and I don’t see on Convoy site how many amps driver push in 6 volt variant.
3 volt variant is with 6 Amps driver.
I would like better when this host will have 8 Amps buck driver paired with SFT 40 or XHP 50.3 3 volt but they sell only 6 amps variant.
I wouldn’t want you to misunderstood me wrong because all variants of M21A are great lamp and you need to see which variant best suits for your needs.

Before I offered an opinion, I would want to know what criteria led you to choosing a throwy platform (with a large reflector), and floody emitters. And how much you care about CCT.
For example, if it was me putting up with the big head on an M21A, I would get either an SFT40, XHP 50.3 HI, or dedome a 519A and make it a thrower. If I wanted flood, I’d get an M21B with a floody emitter. But that’s just me.
Also, I think all SST40, and basically anything in 6000-6500K, is ugly. So I would definitely lean towards a 4000K or 5000K Cree over that, especially if there’s one with higher efficiency. But, again, that’s just me. How much do you care about how CCT and efficiency?
The SFT40 is superior to the SST40, and the XHP50.3 HI is superior to the XHP50.2.
If you want most throw, do SFT40. If you want more output, do XHP50.3 HI.
