Convoy M21F vs M21B reflector size

Do the M21F and M21B share the same reflector? If not, how do they differ? Thanks!

The M21F has a head diameter of 40mm.
The M21B has a head diameter of 35.7mm.
So the M21F reflector is most likely wider.

I thought one might be deeper too. IDK, trying to decide which emitters are most practical in the M21B. My brother has one with 519a which is pretty nice.

The M21F Reflector is slightly wider and deeper:

Oh I should have thought of looking for the parts for sale separately. Thanks!

I think the above picture is from my 3 lights, all with GT-FC40. FWIW, here are average throw measurements of that LED in the 3 bodies:
M21B 262 meters
M21F 272 m
M21E 324 m

In daily use M21E is my favorite because of the distinctly better throw, but of course it’s a larger light. M21F and M21B beams are very close to each other. ie IMHO if you already have one, I wouldn’t buy the other.

I can’t fully explain why but I feel like I must have an M21B–at least one. The design just appeals to me.

More practically though, Simon sells a remote switch for M21B and I thought it might be neat to mount it on a rifle for varmint extermination. It also has some different emitter options than the M21F.

The M21B reflector, though less deep than the M21F reflector, is deeper relative to its width. It is uniquely good at projecting more light into hotspot/corona and has a narrower spill. The M21A/C8+/M21E reflectors have a similar geometry.

These are my favourite reflector shapes.
I particularly like the M21B with the XHP50.3. It is both throwy, but also floody, with a smooth transition from hotspot to corona and spill.
The M21A with an SFT25R is incredible as a dedicated thrower, I measured 252kcd.

A shallow reflector will have a wider spill, but less light in the hotspot/corona. This will make the ground/trees close to you brighter, and the hotspot thus less bright relative to your eyes.

I don’t have an XHP50.3 Hi light yet either. Is the tint pretty good coming from Convoy?

Try the m21b with xhp 50.3 and a driver of 48w. Ask Simon for this driver and he will add for you.
The m21E, m21a or m21f are limited with the 30w driver.
Another option is the SFT70 led, with more throw and a little less lumens.
A great light with xhp 50.3 is the Sofirn C8L.

That 48w driver sounds intriguing! How does it handle the heat at 35% and 100%?

I guess all modes are probably brighter? That part wouldn’t bother me, I’m not a moonlight-mode fanatic.

This guy has it with xhp50.3

I have it with SFT70 5000k. It handles the heat very well. Turbo will last about 40s.
I calculated 500+ meters of throw. It’s a very nice beam.

Ah, my favorite emitter and tint for that emitter.

Are you running the 6V8A driver?

When I tried it, I got lesser output on an SFT70 5000K compared to 6V5A.
I am not sure if the driver just stepped down because of losses in the springs.

I don’t have the m21b 5a driver to compare, only the 8a. But I have the S21g with same led and 5a. The m21b produce substantially more lumens than the s21g.
My m21b came with double springs, and I used a molicell p45b for testing.

Sounds like I need try it again with bypassed springs.
