I would like to buy two S26 convoys to use in a bicycle. One would contain the LED XHP70.3 to be placed in the front of the bicycle and the other would contain a red emitter to be placed in the rear.
I couldn’t find an S26 with a red emitter, but I did find an S21 with a KR CSLNM1.23 SST-20-DR Red. I don’t really need the S26 with red emitter, the S21 would work as I would use a very low intensity and would therefore last a long time with the 21700 battery. However, I find it handy to have two torches on the bike that use the same type of battery.
My question is, is it easy to swap the emitter on the S26 ? What part should i buy?
Welcome! Just so I fully understand, do you want to run bike lights off 26800 cells…? I’d be curious to know what mounts you’re using, my twofish lokblock mounts are a bit shakey with 18650+ sizes lights.
If I was being honest, 21700 format is also more mature due to the size being popular for EVs etc. You could get a Vapcell F60 (6Ah) or F58 (5.8Ah) if you want to maximise runtime in this format.
If you went with S12 with SST-20-DR and any other 21700 light on the front (personally, I’m a fan of Nichia 519a), then you’d have two lights which take the same cell 21700…?
First time doing this, before I was just using a decathlon light. However I will participate for the first time in a race in April, which will be last mostly at night. This forces me to train during the winter too, so a lot of night sessions.
Just to show you my handlebar before I talk about the mounts :
I would mount under the handlebar as the one I current use. For the rear I would place it in the seat post or maybe in the frame of the bike

Alternatively for the front: I will use a garmin gps, so I could use these mounts together for the GPS and the flashlight. The flashlight stays in the place of the camera in the image bellow.

I can see that these mounts may not stabilise the torch very well. I will have to think about something, maybe two brackets/mounts that hold the torch to the bike in different places? I don’t know, I’ll see.
Regarding the batteries, I would like the runtime to be as long as possible. That’s why I chose the S26 instead of the S21 fo example. The S26 can take the 26800 batteries, but it looks like that format is kind of dead, so I may have to use the 26650.
S12 looks like it has 3 leds, I would prefer the S21 with the SST-20-DR Red that I found on Aliexpress. One LED looks simpler and cheaper. Yes, at the end of the day, if it’s not an easy swap on the S26 to add the red emitter, I think I’ll go with the S26 in the front and the S21 in the back.
