Convoy s6 driver and battery recommendations

I would like to purchase a convoy s6 with the sft40. Seen previous posts here about the buck driver stepping down immediately. I emailed Simon today if updated drivers are coming with new lights and he said “this problem has been fixed” can anyone else confirm this? If not would the linear driver be better? Also I want to add a higher capacity battery to my order, is the vapecell f38 the best choice for this light out of these choices?
EVE 35V 3500mAh
+$ 3.83
Liitokala Lii35A 3500mAh
+$ 4.14
Molicel M35A 3500mAh
+$ 6.32
Vapcell F38 3800mAh
+$ 4.55
vapcell N40 4000mAh
+$ 6.22

I have one that is a few weeks old and it does not display the immediate stepdown. Sft40 with 8 amp driver. I can’t comment on battery, as I use an 18350.

How is the 8amp in the s6? A member here told me thats too much for that light and Im better off with 5amp

Think about the mode groups and how the amperages compare between the drivers. Personally, I would go with the 8A for an SFT40. Yes, the 100% mode would get hot quickly, but it would be fun. Say I use group 10. The 35% mode would be 2.8 amps, which I imagine would be thermally sustainable. This would be “high” and the 100% would be like a turbo for short durations.

Exactly. I mainly use 20% for outside, but 100 for short bursts is helpful. It is good to have on tap.

I have a few Convoys with the 5A Buck driver, none step down prematurely.
