but i bought the LED this time from Aliexpress random store which had cheapest price for it.
Interesting, does not sound too bad.
But since it was bought at random Ali shop, the real type and manufacturer of this emitter is unknown.
I’ve been weighing up building an L21B with this L90 emitter & a FET driver for v cheap, or biting the bullet and just getting an L7. I don’t really have a use for either; it would just be for fun, so sustained performance isn’t such an issue. I wonder how different the peak performance is.
Thank you very much! Will you do the other colors as well, or is that too much effort? I was hoping for orange or gold hosts, too. If not I will buy a regular light and swap - can always use spare LEDs and drivers for other projects.

It essentially an analogue of the discontinued SBT70. I tested this one in the Amutorch DM90S. It was the ‘RC90’ in that one, but essentially the same thing, just the tint cct on mine was around 5000k thereabouts, low cri, and +duv on turbo. Even behind a buck driver in the dm90s, I wasn’t blown away with the performance. Under 3000 Lumens out the front on Turbo. The throw is however very respectable! Even so, a Sbt90.2 is a much better option.
The Sbt90.2 beats it in every metric except maybe throw. However, it runs better/cooler on 1S and would be great behind a buck driver. It can handle up to 15 amps, but runs best around 10-13.
