【convoy】SFT70 3000K CRI95 available

Ooh wait the negative trace is ridiculously tiny on this one  He kept the trace between the pads thicker, but at the cost of the negative wire.

I’ll try to come up with something in kicad when I have time.

Might be difficult on 16mm stars.

Something like this?, yeah the traces are thin but can just add wires like you said
found it on Lumistrips site

I would not trust this tiny trace, same issue as the others. However, here you can just solder a wire between the two (top right, bottom left) pads for a low resistance path.

For 6V config, a wire could be looped around from the diagonal traces. For 3V, all four pads could be connected, or jumpers used.

Yes, this is probably the best choice, but I doubt Simon would want to use something with an air wire that needs hand soldering in production… So at best it’d be an option for us as hobbyists.

And ‘air wiring’ does not look clean.

Hi Simon!

Any plans to sell a 46950 battery case for 3x21A or 3x21D? That would be awesome! And also, to supply 46950 batteries?

All the best!

I’ve modded few pcb’s for 12V.

Hopefully the LMP 1800K have good tint (slilghtly negative duv) and good Ra.

The main issue with the SFT-25R for me is the tint, especially on the 5000k version, there will be a big green spot right in the center of the beam. Not so much an issue in bigger reflectors like the M21A, but smaller hosts like the S6 and even the M1 will have this big green hotspot thay reminds me of soiled diapers and makes me want to hurl.

5 Thanks

The green is noticeable even on the L21B, but a little green out on the farm just blends in with the grass and trees, so it’s not something I’d ever notice out there. I sell primarily to hunters, so max range on these SFT25R at 5000K is what makes them so amazing. The 5000K is performing within 30m of the 6500K in a C8+, it’s 960m ANSI. I haven’t come across another emitter that can get close to that at 5000K.

I am carrying a S6 with SFT-25R as a EDC every now and then, and there it is both noticeable and annoying.

I tried using a SFT-25R with a smooth 20mm TIR out of curiosity, and I got the wildest tint shift I have ever seen. Noticeably pink spill and green spot lol.

But for hunting purposes, I’m sure it doesn’t matter at all.

At some stage I’d love Simon to improve the Z1 so it doesn’t squeak when adjusting the focus. I think it’s the matte anodising and the oring sliding over it, lube the oring and it temporarily goes away. Easy fix might be just using smooth ano.

ooh C8+ mini flashed up on the ticker. The C8 series has not been on my radar, wonder what it will look like and how it will compare with other 14500 lights in the T-series!

1 Thank

I applied a generous amount thermal paste on the sliding threads and the squeak went away. Heat transfer to the head got slightly better too, which is also nice. Not something that could have been done in manufacturing but a viable modification for us squeak haters. The Maglite 3C (ML50L) uses a plastic thread sliding system that doesn’t squeak. It has rubbish heat transfer characteristics, but i believe designing a similar mechanism out of brass might work (decent thermals and silent).

I saw that, hopefully the reflector will be okay.

@Simon_Mao I’m excited for the C8+ mini! The 14500/AA headlamp too!

Are there any problems with the reflector on C8(+) series?

Where’d you see that? Is there a convoy tracking site I don’t know about?
