Convoy T3: Driver Update Potential?

The Convoy T3 is an awesome customizable everyday light. However at 1.5 amps on a 14500, it feels a little underpowered compared to newer lights.

I was going to ask in Convoy thread but wanted to raise here first: should we ask for the stock driver to be upgraded to handle more current? It’s possible to swap in a more powerful driver for modders but not for everyone.

The T3 is already pretty large for its cell size so hopefully it could handle a bit more without dangerously overheating.

I think 2.5 amps would be a great target: that matches an s2+ 18350 running a 50% mode group.

What do you think?

The T3 fits most 17mm driver
I have one with a 5A linear driver and one with the 6V/4A boost driver

So it has potential

What battery are you using and what is the runtime?

Vapcell H10 in the 6V/4A with a SFQ46 Triple
Random 14500 Nitecore I had laying around in the 5A Linear XP-G3 Triple

I don’t do runtime measurements so I don’t know

Wow that’s a lot of power - how many seconds can you hold it on 100% before letting go due to heat?

after 35 seconds
So not too bad actually, I have plenty of lights that get hotter quicker

Impressive, thanks.

That seems to help validate the T3 has some additional thermal headroom available for a stock upgrade. 3V/2.5A would be cool in comparison.

tbf the Triple uses a solid copper spacer so that helps a lot
