Do I need the thinner retaining ring to use the 17mm 10A buck driver in the S2+ ?

i’m pretty sure mine came with the thinner, retaining ring. I’ll check when I get home tonight.

Maybe another automated blink or two at higher voltage could be sufficient as an early warning?

One of my old Petzel headlamps did something like this and it was reassuring.

I recently recieved an 18350 with build in USB-C charging in a Lumintop light and I just measured how long it is: 39,50mm. So that is also a really long one. In comparison, I also checked a regular Wurkkos 18350 (with buttontop) and that was 35,89mm.

Yes, I’m pretty sure a standard retaining ring would crush the PFET:

Hi all!
@Simon_Mao or other people knows what is the best gasket for S2+ clear optics?
I need a gasket for 3535 led but the right one for the optic.
For example the new black gasket for B35AM is not good for optic..so help if you want!
Cheers

If you’re talking about a TIR, you don’t need a gasket.

You don’t need a gasket with a B35AM and 5050 TIR in an S2+.

Why?

If you have the correct sized TIR for the LED, then you don’t need any gasket for centering. The TIR will fit over the LED.

The use of a gasket may cause the TIR to slide onto the LED and damage the top when you go to screw in the bezel.

Edited, typed it wrong and didn’t proof read.

Now I am really confused. Can you explain this one to me? Are you talking about two different gaskets… or maybe the O ring at the bezel versus the centering gasket used for a reflector ??

Sorry, I didn’t proof read what I wrote, I have edited.

2 Thanks

TIR for S2+ has 5.5mm of hole so they fit probably all 5 mm leds. Ok i remove gasket when i use TIR

Simon sells 3535 and 5050 version of 20mm TIR for S2+, neither need gasket if they are the right sized LED.

The gaskets are just plastic spacers to center the square LED in the round hole of the reflector (and, also work to prevent shorts between the MCPCB and the aluminium reflector).

TIR optics are moulded plastic and are shaped to accept the LED and position it correctly in the optical path.

You shouldn’t need an adapter/gasket if you’ve the correct TIR for the chosen LED footprint (3535, 5050, etc), it should fit over the LED directly.

3 Thanks

I sanded the TIR down and got it into the TS22 just now. Great beam! Thanks again for the info on how to do it.

2 Thanks

No worries, glad You like it as well!

1 Thank

Be careful: 3535 LEDs have a 5mm diagonal, and 5050 LEDs have a 7mm diagonal. So if the TIR has a circular opening, you need to use the diagonal length rather than side length.

Thank you

With 5,58 hole diameter I think only the 5 mm led we can use. Not the 7mm led
