It is Ultrafire 502B made by Convoy.
I looks very well made and cheap compared to other versions of 502B I’ve found in other sites.
I’ve just ordered 1.
You can buy with assurance. Look at the number of transactions and feedback. I bought a couple of pieces too. The driver is very efficient. With 8 hours of low (as a night lamp), my Sanyo 2600mah still have 4.02V left in the morning. The switch used is OMTEN, one of the better ones.
Perhaps Convoy is the OEM of Ultrafire ??? I don’t know, but this Ultrafire has 2 groups of modes just like all other Convoy flashlights. One buyer confirms that you can turn off SOS & Strobe (Group1). No complaint so far from previous buyers, so it should be good.
I think the WF-502B (form factor) is ideal for an EDC flashlight. The low cost means you don’t have to cringe if it gets dropped, however… I think you’re better served with a Solarforce L2. You can get the higher quality L2P, and start exploring P60 drop ins. The L2 platform just has so many more options in bezels, tail switches, extention tubes, and other parts. I really like P60 hosts, and really believe you’re better served taking the high road and going with some variant of the Solarforce L2 instead.
Right, that's why his business is an aliexpress storefront. Whatever you say, dude.
edit: And also why his own original brand, Convoy, is a name stuck on generic lights that existed long before the Convoy name did.
AND why his store for his own Convoy brand which he originated himself because he is a flashaholic like us, has 15 models of his own brand, but 32 from Nitecore, 30 from Jetbeam, 31 from 'Sumwayman'(sic), 29 from Fenix, etc. and so on... If you had a brand of your own on y our own products you had worked hard to build up from nothing, would you make your own brand only a minor part of your store, and drown it out with competitor's products?
I think you fundamentally misunderstood his explanation for his use of the Convoy name in the email you quoted from him. He said he liked the name and it sounded stylish, so he decided to use it for his store. Which is convenient, I guess, that Convoy isn't an actual manufacturer but just a name for generic lights that exist under several other different names/brands. Why do you suppose he didn't choose to call himself 'Solarforce' or 'Nitecore'? Perhaps because he'd have his ass sued off if he did?
Please don't read more into this that what I have written, do not get all het up and pretend this is about someone attacking your friend. In no way do I think he's running any kind of scam, or anything else. I just think he has a tenuous understanding of how to be upfront and honest and what's acceptable and what isn't (using someone else's name, or using his name on someone else's products), none of which is helped by the lost-in-translation factor. I try not to enable shady behavior with my dollars, while too many people are all too happy to throw money at anyone dangling something shiny and flashlight-related in their face.
Do you realise that people could read what you’ve posted there and form an adverse opinion of the seller based exclusively upon your personal opinion ?
Libel is a word that comes to mind that you may be well advised to take into consideration.
Just a friendly heads up
As for the seller (Simon) I’ve conversed with him during and after making a purchase and what I can gather, he genuinely is interested in torches.
An example being me inquiring about MCPCB’s such as noctigon/sinkpad and if he has experience in them.
He had not and expressed interest in comparing them first hand to the two copper options he has available to him.
To me, that sounds like an interest in improved torch performance.
Of course, I could be a shill, so feel free to inquire yourself
Forums are usually taken very serious by many that are not participating. So saying, "Convoy's Ultrafire" will stick with many that only read and are not members (not that members haven't launched the expression "Convoy's Ultrafire")
Locally I've heard some people saying that Convoy is a brand like Fenix and Olight and that all flashlights looking like anything branded Convoy are fakes, if it doesn't have Convoy on it it's fake.
Well the tone of the comment, rate of reply, and relinking the flashlight seem a bit off. That in combination with the wild claim in #10. I’m not a paranoid type, but something doesn’t feel right. Edit: I might just be crazy, idk.
