I need to copper braid the springs on a few of my lights. Anyone know where I can get some? All the solder wick on amazon seems to have flux on it, does that matter?
WLXY wick on FT doesn't have any flux in it, afaik all of the wicks on FT don't have flux in them.
check mtn electronics. also, some people use regular wire instead of braid, but I am not sure of the pros/cons of reg wire vs braid
I’d use 22awg or 18awg silicon wire, copperbraid does oxidate pretty quick.
Mtn Electronics has that too.
I use 18awg when I don’t need much spring compression, copper braid for more flexibility.
If there’s a Radio Shack near you they usually have copper braid.
I get it from CB radio coax cable. It can be picked up cheap from truck stop. Strip it down and you have some nice copper braids.
TV cable, microphone / headphone cable, some CAT cable.
