They were a mint green color. It did not dawn on me until I had left about flashlight use. I did pickup a couple of powerone cr123’s for $1.50 each just to have.
Were they one of these two?
Mint green is a very pretty color.:bigsmile: You could buy them to put on your shelf to go along with the cr123’s youve got sitting there.
At that price I would go take a second look and see if you can get some additional information, the odds are high that they are a good buy.
Call the counter and ask them to look at one for you and give you the numbers and any additional info.

A few years back, I bought some Eveready NiMh AA batteries in a blister pack at Sam’s Club. To make a long story short, they were pure dee garbage (pure!). They wouldn’t hold a charge for more than a couple hours. And don’t even think about putting a load on them. This was before lsd technology. I later found that Eveready had acknowledged that the batteries had some issues.
The D batteries may be a good buy, but then again, my history with “surplus/closeout” merchandise makes me a bit leary, pending knowledge as to age, manufacturer, etc.
Have you ever tried those BTY brand AAA NiMh cells? They have 1000 printed on the side, but my charger rates them at 150-300mah (on a good day).
Even new, if old enough and non-LSD, can have suffered some damage from discharging if they spent long enough on the shelf. Worth checking for any kind of date information on the packaging. Unless they are low discharge that could raise a red flag.
Some also are smaller cells with a plastic spacer inside the wrapping. Energizer used to have their pretty awful AA high discharge cells wrapped up as D cells IIRC. 2700mAh or less throws a flag it’s AAs repackaged.
If they’re heavy, there might be a chance they’re halfway decent.
If they’re light, they might be just an AA (or sub-C) battery inside a D shell.
bring your multimeter with you before you buy them!
and check them out for more detail. As of the moment I do not have a direct need for them….if it was a super crazy good deal I was gonna maybe find a need….

I know the place. Good D nimhs are rated at 10Ah and go for $10 ea or more. I’ve been moving to liion because of the weight but do have a host that uses 10 d cells but they would have to be matched.
Buying cheapo (or even brand name) D NiMH is a huge waste of money.
You want Low Self Discharge which keeps them from losing 1% of their charge every DAY.
You also want at least 8000 mAh. 2k is basically an AA that is rewrapped. Its garbage.
I know its BUDGET light forums but it is all about cost-effectiveness and in some cases, you need to spring for the better equipment. 2.50 for a 2k mAh or 10 bucks for a 10k mAh with low self discharge? Choice is obvious.

Not to mention that 10 Ah LSD D NiMH’s don’t exist. Highest capacity they exist in is 8 Ah.
Didn’t GM do something similar when they started quoting engine sizes instead of cubic inches to keep from getting laughed out of the marketplace in the 70s?
Could not find the exact model number, maybe older cells. I did find this with close to the same model number.
