Is the titanium host too heavy for the magnet to hold the light?
The tailmagnet on my TiCu D3AA will barely hold on to the side of the fridge. The light will slide downwards if I touch it lightly. I do not trust it to hold sideways. If I had known, I would not have bought w magnet.
otoh
on my Aluminum D3AA w magnet, I feel confident it will hold to the side of the fridge, no problem with sliding, feels secure. Im really glad I bought w magnet, it is very useful.
fwiw, I prefer the flat switch ring, and solid color switch (Amber)
The flat ring is tall enought to prevent the button from touching a tabletop. imo the raised ring is needlessly taller, I tried it, and found it makes me have to use a finger tip to reach the button.
fwiw, Solid switch color always turns on when the main LEDs turn On. I find the illuminated button useful
otoh, the RGB button Aux always turn off when main LEDs turn On. That means I can only find the switch by feel. Though that is pretty easy w the raised switch pedestal, I find I miss having the visual cue of an illuminated button.
I prefer the Aluminum light because it weighs less in my pocket. I seldom choose the carry the TiCu, due to the extra weight.
Thanks so much for the useful feedback!
I want at least one TiCu variant because I imagine it will survive longer. Based on your feedback I will skip the magnetic tail on that one and maybe opt for the non-raised ring.
I like my red D3AA so much I am almost afraid to use it. I figure that means I need a few more
maybe opt for the non-raised ring
you can also buy a spare raised ring, in case you dont like the flat ring, just email Hank to add a Raised Ti Ring to your order

fun times!
what LEDs did you choose?
Oh yea, the extra ring would be worth the few extra dollars just in case.
I have the 519a 4500k domed currently. Very nice beam! I might go with the harsher 5000k domed for the titanium. Titanium is “harsher” than aluminum so in my mind the combination is fitting
