The Acebeam E75 tail spring is the clip that holds the magnet in place, it’s a doddle to drop it out. That’s a powerful magnet too, I didn’t even like using it left handed with it close to my watch.
Not sure how that leaves you with the positively awful dilemma of the magnet picture
Wow, that did actually come out really easily, thank you! I don’t know if it was deliberate on Acebeam’s part to make the magnet so easily removable but I much prefer the light without it and if I change my mind it’ll be equally easy to pop it back in. Either way, another reason to recommend it IMO.
The Acebeam is one of the best buys I’ve made, really gets a lot of things right. I’m fairly sure I read something about the magnet being optional. Whatever Sofirn use to fix theirs in isn’t a glue or my jet flame would have destroyed it and there’d have been smoke. I think it’s a press fit. I was tempted to strike it with a centre punch and shatter it, they’re very brittle.
IMO this is one of the best magnetic tailcap designs, there for those that want, easy to remove for those that don’t want it, and easy to replace for those that change their mind.
All this talk of interference with watches makes me nervous, I’ve ordered my first automatic watch (a budget thing) but I love the utility of magnetic tailcaps
I’m hoping it’s a Steeldive? I’ve been incredibly impressed with the SD1970 I picked up from AliExpress for about £60, but the Seiko movement doesn’t like magnets. Thing is, they’re everywhere, phones, iPad, iPad cover, I bought one of the cheapo de-mag things a while ago and it works fine when tested on a steel pin.
