Deal Alert - 4 x AA GP Recyko NiMH LSD batteries - $6.25 @ BIC

What is the “result” of typical cheap NiMH?

Thanks for taking the time to test these again. One thing bothers me - are these the same cells you labelled 1-4 in your post #105?
If so, then the results of four test cyles would be as follows:

1. 678 947 872 884
2. 619 893 620 628
3. 900 1115 1070 1082
4. 320 715 834 819

Is it possible the numbers have been mixed up a bit? I find it strange to see the capacity dropped slightly on three cells.

Anyway, taking into account your results from cells 5-8, it seems you have 7 out of 8 performing at or over the stated 820mA capacity. And as you say, in low powered or single cell devices the capacity mismatch doesn't herald the end of the world. Especially at only about 70c each.

Have a look here for example at some tests on AA NiMH:

Brand Claimed capacity mAh Tested capacity mAh
Blue Baby 2600 413
Go Green 3000 742
GODP 3000 728
Generic Yellow 3000 745

Did not realize “typical cheap” meant ebay Junk, POS.

The typical junk stuff like you said… around here ~250mAh AAAs would sell for around $3-4, and that’s not even LSD. Will need to fork $20+ for 4 Recykos. This BIC ones, despite not being the best or most consistent batteries, are still much cheaper and better than what I can get at the price.

It’s almost over, but:

Target Clearance - White-top Duracell battery 4-packs
(EDIT) now $3.65 (Duraloops)

Waited for them to go to 70% off and they finally did today to 3.65 each .
3.65 –1.50 coup = 2.15 each + tax

AAA Duraloop capacity

If these will turn out to be LSD then Im ok with their inconsistent capacity, anyone willing to charge theirs and leave unused for a month :)?

I ran 4 AAA Recyko+ through the Maha Break-in cycle. Capacities were:
1037mah
1011mah
836mah
796mah

I guess it’s possible to have LSD AAA’s with 1000mah. See:

It’s the variation in the GP cells that is quizzical. I’ll mark the 1000 capacity cells with a sharpie, so that I can use them in pairs or singly.

I’m keeping the batteries I did get as a backup, but I’m never doing business with BIC again.

Boy, what a nightmare:

Order 1: Missing Items (partial refund-store credit then changed to PP refund)
Order 2: OK
Order 3: 3 of 4 items arrived destroyed (partial refund PP)
Order 4: Charged my PP instead of using coins from Order 1 refund like I chose on the order screen (cancelled- full PP refund)

No more orders will be happening. They have refunded everything I asked them to straight to my PP, but I still have to drive to the bank tomorrow to make a deposit on my over-drafted checking account from order 4, which is my allowance account that I keep just enough money in for my orders.

That’s indeed a good price. At $14, it’s quite affordable. Recyko? Nice name, this is the first time I’ve heard it. I hope it isn’t a “recycled” battery. LoL!

My batteries has arrived, I will also test them with hobby charger.

I have an open paypal dispute with them. They have sent 18650 flashlight instead of an AA one.
Their CS is not good, they offer you store credit, if you insist they change it to Paypal partial refund.
They do not want to do a FULL refund.

+1

I still have a set of 4 aa’s in the mail too.

I ran my last 4 AAA cells through the C9000 Break-in cycle. The results are:
829mah
790mah
764mah
828mah

Just to repeat, the results for the first 4 cells I tested (8 cells total) were:
1037mah
1011mah
836mah
796mah

Given that Eneloop AAA’s are rated 750mah minimum, these cells seem to be initially competent. YMMV

I thought, if I have a AAA cell with 25% more capacity than a Eneloop, what would be the best use for said cell? Bingo! Put it in a single or double AAA light, for a 25% increase in run-time. Since I currently EDC a Tank007 E09, I’m ready to rock. I can have one in the charger, and one in the light.

However, the GP cells are a bit of a snug fit in the Tank, due to diameter of the cells. I thought they somehow interfered with the ease of the twisty. This interference could be real, or imagined. But, as they say, perception becomes reality. So, for now, I’m back to Duraloops or Eneloops in the Tank. Both are a slightly looser fit.

Today I received the two packs of AA.
I opened one and put it in the charger, discharged and recharged:

Out of the box 1st charge
mV mAh mV mAh
1291 1545 1423 2242
1296 1548 1425 2243
1293 1529 1424 2225
1296 1559 1428 2296

These numbers are good for me 8)

I don’t have a smart charger yet, but subjectively, the AAs I have tested in my devices seem to be on par with my genuine Eneloops.

Ditto.

I have just tried discharge-charge test with hobby charger.
First discharge: 1350mah. (no load voltage:1.29V)
Second discharge: 650mah (may be early terminated)
Third discharge 2000mah (good)

Battery seems good, I have 2 different wrapper GP Recyko’s, purchased from local stores.
And their weights are about 28.3 - 28.6g
BIC’s version is 25.8g, and Eneloop glitters is 25.9g

BIC’s version may be fake.

Given how inconsistent are AAA values, I wouldnt be surprised BIC’s being fake!
A while ago there was a thread regarding fake Eneloops:

I have the same samples you have.

BIC’s one states GREEN GENERATION while the one on top states NEW GENERATION
