Took my Streamlight ProTac HL-X and added a Convoy 8 amp Buck driver and a SST-40… nice little boost in power..
Then i said.. what if..
Took a Ayin Tactical light thats surprisingly very well made and over half the cost.. lets see if we can heat coffee with it.
Convoy 15 amp Buck driver and a SFT-60… added more therm paste than normal thinking to fill gaps around the sides even to try and help this poor little light, even added some to the threads.. and boy she gets hot pretty fast.
I will do a real test tonight..

Seems the push button switch couldnt handle it, put the remote pressure switch on and tho that switch, tailcap spring is up to the task, the long thin wire sure isnt, it got real warm… gonna save it for tonight..
This combo just needs a larger host.. need to find something for it..

Ahhhh… most likely the switch can handle it then.. ill take it apart tomorrow and see whats going on in it..
This still isnt as fun as weedeating with 30% Nitro RC fuel and the end of the mixture screw cut off so it will run on the ethanol.. never did blow it up..
But its a good clean not overly $$$ hobby.

But you don’t need to, as long as it works.
I usually cut a section of wire longer than I need. Strip a little more than you need off 1 end. Flux it and add solder.
Bend that end at 90°
Put it through the top of the spring towards the bottom.
Wedge the tinned end between the bottom coil of the spring. Flux and solder it in place.
Then at the top, compress the spring a little and strip the other end of the wire.
Bend the wire a bit at the top and make a solder blob.
Use lots of flux and high heat. Try to work FAST!

They certainly do not need to be pretty. I bought this one used, and as much as I wanted to fix it, it has its own charm.
