Direct Drive 9 LEDs AK-47 light?

Hi All, the driver on my 9 LED AK-47 light is kaput, my fault actually I added .051 resistor on it and when I turned it on for several minutes, suddenly I smelled some kind of burning smell coming from the light,
quickly I turned the light off and check the batteries, nothing is wrong with the batteries, so I checked the driver and it smelled like something burned, it turned out to be one of the component burned :~

my question is… is it possible to direct drive this light using 3 26650 batteries? or do I have to buy a new driver for this light?
I believe the light is configured 9S1P

Sure. You got 3 cells in series, 12v, and 9 LED's. You need to rewire or verify the LED's are in 3 groups of 3 series (3P 3S or 3S 3P?). In this config, the LED's would want 12v, so you are good to go, direct that is... If you get 5A at the tail, that would be 5A per group of 3 LED's, so about 1.7A per LED, for example.

Couple more inch's, still coming down. A day without new snow seems out of the norm this year Smile.
