After missing out on the Romisen group buy, I started looking around for a quality light that could be used for another multi emitter light.

I found an existing stainless steel Warsun light that looked classy and had a nice heat path. The head, the pill an MCPCB will have to be modified for it to serve our purpose.

Warsun isn’t a stranger to dual or triple emitter lights.

Here’s three pictures of the existing light and a couple of renders that Warsun sent to Karen @ Gearbest.




Here are the emitters that would be used.

The new Gen 4 LG Innotek 365nm LEUVA33W70RL00 and 385nm LEUVA33W70TL00 UV emitters.

The 90 CRI Nichia NVSW219BT-V1 R9050 D220 from Hank Wang @ IOS.

Here is an idea I’d like to throw out there since we would be already getting the Nichia emitters from IOS. The LG UV emitters can be driven at 1500ma stock, maybe Warsun could use the DTP Noctigon XP triple MCPCB instead of their stock non DTP aluminum MCPCB. That way, some of you adventurous BLF members can change some resisters if you wanted to :wink: . I know it will raise the cost of this light, but it might be worth it.

I don’t have any prices yet but it does have a MOQ of 500. I’ve ordered some LG Innotek samples and I plan on sending a couple to djozz to put to the test. You know djozz, he’ll treat them like a rented mule. :smiley:

oooh MOQ is pretty high, but still possible. Any idea on possible price?

Just from looking at it that host looks very nice. Classy looking but much better heat path than an all SS light.

I think it’s a bit late.
After several chances to buy a UV-flashlight (I just ordered a Nichia S2+) and the big progress to have lights with ZWB2 UV-Pass filter (not possible with this host).
The price must be really reasonable to reach 500.

II like the design. I don’t know if you can hit 500 or not, like others I think the price would have to be crazy cheap for that, but I’ve got a weakness for multi-emitters so consider me in, as long as the price is at least reasonable.

You can get quite small diameter ZWB2 UV-Pass filters.
It might be possible to fit one of those in — and you can get filters for each wavelength, actually — they’re quite selective.

It would add to the complication to make up something along the lines of a triple optic with a different filter for each emitter.

Possible, perhaps.

Very interested depending on price.

Would prefer with ?ZWB1/ZWB2/ZWB3 UV-Pass filters, but may be too difficult/expensive to do.

Also the MOQ of 500 seems rather difficult, unless Very keenly priced.

Pfjew, a different filter for each wavelength! I do not see that happening, not in this host at least. But we do not have much experience with LG UV-leds yet, perhaps the visible output of the 365nm version is nice and low, have to test that.

I'm very probably in, I have a weakness for weird freak flashlights :party:

(as for the 385nm LG led, a generation older one than in the OP, that I have on test now, I put it in a small flashlight and I have the suspicion that they sold me 400nm. And now I have to measure an output spectrum to confirm that .)

I would kike a kit for any Convoy S-series-light

So, the MCPCB with the 3 emitters soldered onto and a driver that is capable of driving the LEDs piece by piece (something like that: 5 Modes; UV1, UV2, White HiMode + LoMode, UV1+UV2).

a MOQ of 500 for that flashlight (I estimate it well on over $50) is a killer, don’t waste too much time in that.

just a newbie question - what is the charm of a UV flashlight? i want in on the excitement… but don’t know what the excitement should be for…just looking for an excuse to buy something different (:

Most people? Just for fun. They do cause lots of fun things to fluoresce, like the authenticity features in money and government IDs, so if you have a need that its important. You can also use it for hunting down pet accidents or other bodily fluids on your carpets, although that’s actually harder than the CSI shows would lead you to believe. I use mine to harden uv-activated adhesives - that’s so much faster than sitting them out in the sun. Some wildlife fluoresces. If you happen to live in an area with scorpions, those are especially fun to hunt with UV.

There’s probably other uses but that’s what comes to my mind.

Can’t believe I missed this thread yesterday. Anyway, it looks very promising. Count me in. Would it be possible to also source the filters as an add-on cap (I am dreaming of a cap with swing out filters, swing them all in and you get nada :bigsmile: ).

I won’t hear from Karen right away since it is the weekend. I hope she has some prices to share with us.

In order to prevent problems like fake emitters and such, I contacted LG Innotek and got the contact info for a authorized supplier in China. I gave that contact info to Karen and she’ll get a price for 500 count reels.

When I ordered my samples from a supplier in the US, It cost me $6.5 each because I ordered so few. If I were to have ordered 100 emitters, the price would have been way cheaper. A reel of 500 will be cheaper too.

These UV emitters put out over 3000mw @ 1500mA drive. I think that is a lot of bang for your buck. After djozz test them out and says that they can be driven harder safely on DTP copper, that would be more incentive for us to use the XP Noctigon triple MCPCB.

With a 500 MOQ, we should see a good price and have premium parts.

Any of you driver gurus out there have any ideas for the driver, or should we just leave it single mode and up the output to 1500mA>?

It appears that the LG Innotek is more efficient than Nichias new hot rod. The new Nichia cost well over $100 and the LG Innotek is $6.5 or less.

The LG's are 3535 size, that alone makes it the best choice: fits normal triple boards. And I would like to see that 3W output at 400nm :evil:

The only question is the amount of white light of the 365nm led, with a triple that can not be filtered out.

This sounds weird and a little expensive. It’d probably be hard to get it about where the jaxman was in price, or a little more… but I’d be down if it wasn’t much more than $30.
