DIY clamp, mount, worklight any flashlight

I made a few of these with #12 and 10 copper wire. 12 is stiff enough for most 18650 lights number 10 is probably better for things that are heavier than that. I got the clamps in the US at harbor freight. They were a little over a dollar each. You can find similar on Amazon and eBay but a lot of them are cheaper and don’t have a pin that runs through the orange clamp tip so the tips fall off easily on a lot of the cheap ones.

Smart idea!

I’m going to try it out.

Slick. How are you anchoring the wire in the clamps?

The clamps already have a hole in the handle that’s a little bit too small for the wire. The nylon handle material is very soft. I used a nail that was about the size of the hole and wallowed it out just a little bit because you want to have to force that wire through the handle so it’s a nice tight fit. Then once you have enough through the hole you have to have that bend that goes in past the pivot point. That bend keeps the wire from trying to rotate in the hole when there’s weight and leverage on it out in the other clamp. I used submersible pump wire which has a slightly thicker PVC insulation than regular romex wire. I’m sure romex wire will work fine. For the metric people # 12 is approximately 2.0 mm and #10 is 2.5mm. If you don’t have 2.0mm readily available then just go right to 2.5mm. During use try to avoid bending the wire within the first half inch where it comes out of the clamp. An angle light works much quicker and easier with a lot less bending of the wire. This picture is on a 3/4-in copper pipe with a convoy S2+ with number 12 wire.
