Our basement has no windows and only two ceiling fixtures for a very large space. We’re renting, so I can’t cut holes for downlights, so I need to come up with a way to produce a similar output.
In terms of the quality and amount of output, assuming 8 downlight locations, one or two Bridgelux Vesta Gen 2 9mm Thrive 2700-5000K COB’s per downlight fits the bill. I can use a central power supply and controller and run low profile tracks to route wiring, but I’m stuck on the optics and fixture that will produce a gently diffused ~90 degree beam in as shallow a space as possible.
My google-fu failed me on premade fixtures in which to drop in our own COBs and wiring.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or is this a fool’s errand?
The other idea I had was to use dense LED strip to edge-light a disk, but I’m skeptical I can get comparable output this way.
