DIY Diffuser for Foursevens Mini MA?

Anyone know where to find/how to make a diffuser for a Foursevens Mini MA or equivalent small flashlight? I love how small this flashlight is and how much power it can deliver so I’m planning on using it as my new EDC, but would like to add some versatility to it by putting on a diffuser. Anyone have any tips?

Thanks!!

Well until I saw you wanted to use it for EDC, I was gonna say a gallon milk jug filled with water is a heck of a diffuser, but that would kinda be a head ache to carry around, unless you made a kydex milk jug holster???

Haha. No gallon jug for me thanks. Those kydex holsters look pretty neat. At first, I thought they were homemade holsters from molded plastic (maybe old milk jugs :stuck_out_tongue: ).

White plastic pill bottles work great.

I guess I should clarify: Any way to mount a diffuser on a Mini MA? The pill box idea sounds good, just not sure how i would keep it on without having to use another hand. Maybe a pic would help me see it in action.

Find a pill bottle with the right size, either at the neck or in the main section, to fit snug on the head of the light. They come in all sizes. Anything cylindrical and opaque white and fits your light. Be creative.

Wow! Those look great. I must have read your first post wrong. I saw pill “box”. Haha. :8) I was wondering how you were going to show me how to fit a box onto a cylinder. I’ll start looking around. Thanks for the tip!

For really small ones to fit smaller lights browse around the drugstore at the 'travel size' stuff. You can trim off the neck and use the body as a press-fit onto the head, or stretch/reshape by heating up in boiling water. Lots of possibilities!

Looking around the house and seeing some of the travel size bottles, I’m realizing that it’s probably going to be hard to find one to fit this flashlight. The Mini MA has a bezel diameter of 0.7 inches, which is much smaller than any of the bottles I’ve got around the house. I’ll take a look at the drug store, but my travel bottles are pretty standard size. Here’s to hoping! crossing fingers

I’ve always found diffusers annoying; if I look toward them they’re too bright and if I look away they’re too dim.
I prefer to ‘ceiling bounce’ a light from a position somewhere above eye level - from a high shelf or the top of a cabinet, etc. Personally, if a light won’t tail stand I don’t want anything to do with it, so I’ve become quite creative at making ‘tail stands’ out of chair leg tips for my 501s and such.

re: tailstanding - Oh, if only there were such a thing as a 16x6mm switch boot... I'd buy 50 and just hoard them. Why does such a thing not exist? WHY?? :_(

I admit that the uses are limited, but I find it to be useful while camping. In a tent, it’s nice to have something similar to a soft white light bulb hanging from the middle of the tent to provide good lighting. I’ve got an LED lantern, but it’s too heavy to hang from the middle of the tent. Also, it helps to provide soft lighting for pictures in the dark. I wanted to take some pictures inside a cave/tunnel and found the glare from the light to be too much for the camera. Tried the ceiling bounce but it was too far away and didn’t provide enough light. It’s the same reason why people use diffuser-type attachments to a high powered flash on a DSLR camera. Again, just wanted it for added versatility and not necessarily an every day use.

I find wet paper towel works. More often I take the bezel and lens off a zoomy.
