diy headlamp on a heatsink idea #1123

i have a bunch of 16340 flashlights (mostly trustfire mini 01 clones but some other cheap stuff), but i’m a bit tired of the short runtime and the batteries becoming so expensive. i’m thinking of laying out the components with adhesive thermal pads on some heatsinks. any tips? i also have a dozen sst-20 2700k emitters on a 16 mm pad, but no drivers for them.

also some crazy idea: i was thinking about a bigger heatsink with one of those transparent 120mm fans, with the leds and reflectors shining through the blades of the spinning fan, with me boring out the place for them from some off-the-shelf heatsink. this could lead to some very funky light headlamp. just an idea

edit: i thought of deleting this thread because it barely counts as a question, but couldn’t find a way to do it, so if i do something i’ll post it here anyway

Sounds like steam punk

Not sure about the components, but you could always just change the subject line to “please delete”.
