Do I have a dud battery?

Purchased a pair of Trustfire 18650 from DinoDirect http://www.dinodirect.com/trustfire-lithium-battery-18650-2400mah-currency-GBP.html?cur=CAD (my first entry into rechargeable Li-on flashlight batteries). Threw them on my new charger (http://www.dinodirect.com/li-ion-battery-fast-chargers-multifunctionl-cylindrical-currency-GBP.html?cur=CAD). One seemed to charge just fine (started with a red light and turned green over night), the other just stays red.

When I put the 'good' battery in one of my new flashlights seems to work great. When I put the 'red' battery in, the flashlight turns on but it is really dim.

Is this just a dud battery? Should I contact DinoDirect and have them send me a new one?

Thanks guys (newbie here.. tried searching dud battery, etc without much luck).

Cheers

Switch charging bays and try the questionable battery in the bay you charged the known good battery. Probably is your battery but it might be a bad charging channel in your charger. Just keep an eye on it while it charges and make sure it doesn't get hot. If it starts getting too warm then dispose of the battery. If it charges fine then it's your charger that is bad.

Good luck! :)

Thanks, actually in the process of trying that now. Cheers

Tim

You should check the battery voltages with a multimeter.

+1

Ok, I can do that.. what voltages should I be looking for?

Thanks

About half way down it shows how to measure voltage on a rechargeable LI-Ion battery.

Ideally 4,2 but anyting around 4,15 - 4,2V is fine. :)

Are you sure the flashlight works fine otherwise? You can check it by using 3xAA serial connected batteries.

4.2 volts after charged

resting cells(stored) should be kept around 3.8 volts .

the batteries from dino direct should have had 3.5 to 3.8 on them out of the package

anything close to 3 volts i'd be questioning
