Ive also got an $80 black and Decker lol. The pivot one.
It’s awesome. Has a ton of power this one, but only for 30 seconds at a time, and the whole battery lasts maybe 4 minutes. It goes through batteries quick and they’re built in. This is my 4th of the same one, they last about a year. When it starts to go I buy a new one, put the old one in the box and return it. I think of it like a warranty replacement
Had a cheap shark one, was ok. Clogged up easily and was annoying to clean.
Bought a better shark version and it is better, not great, but better.
Convinced work to get stick vacs, they grabbed samsungs and although nice they are a bit finicky.
Have had dyson regular vacs and they are always powerful and easy to clean out. They are a better product, not sure if that means they are worth it, but they do work exceedingly well
While not really a stick vacuum, My dad was throwing out a 2010 era Electrolux ergorapido because the batteries were useless.
Even before they were useless i recall listening to the motor slow down the whole time and suction being dismal.
I opened it up and it had 10 Nimh AA batteries, in packs or 2 and 4 located all around the motor.
I tried recharging them till they were warm, and same behavior, 1 second of use till shutdown.
wall wart charger said 18v, 100ma.
I said eff it, I’m gonna feed it 19.5v from a Ridgid 18v battery.
Holy suction batman!
It has been 4 months since I attached a ‘power wheels adPter’ to the vacuum, and have not busted out the corded vaccuum since.
One weird thing is that 18v Ridgid batteries warm off the charger are 20.4 to 20.6v, and the vaccuum will not stARt up if battery voltage is over 19.6v.
I use it with makita and dewalt batteries too, using a battery adapter.
It draws about 10 amps and less than half of that with a 12v battery.
The reservoir is a bit small for the amount of detritus it now sucks out of rugs. I bought some more pleated filters and rotate them every cleaning.
The motor does not seem to get exceedingly hot being fed ~50% more voltage than could be expected from the 10s NiMh original battery.
It saves serious time compared to busting out the stronger corded vaccuum.
