I have leather and nylon pouches for my knives and torches but what I’m really after is a compact, nylon double pouch that that I can easily wear on my belt.
The best solution I have at present is a Blackhawk double pistol mag pouch but, of course, this being made for magazines is simply too large to snugly hold your average multi-tool and a 20-22mm diam torch.
What I really need is a pouch like that below, with decent flap closures and reduced width and depth of about 1/4 to a 1/3 with a pouch depth of approximatley 10cm.
Is there anything out there?
Hi mate, have you ever tried making your own? I could never find pouches that were to my liking so started making my own for my stuff from nylon webbing as i don’t trust or like clips either.
CRX,
Those are really nice and very compact and to have a doubler would be perfect for my needs. I also like the look of the belt quick release, which is also important as I don’t want to keep unthreading my belt all the time. Do you have a link to that attachment?
I have no problems using a sewing machine, however, I don’t know how well the machine will handle double or tripple layers of webbing.
I forgot to post the photo in my first post as to the sort of pouch I’m talking about, here it is.
Tom.
Doesn’t seem to like the usual method of posting pics, here’s a direct link:
I have settled using webbing sewn by machine using nylon thread. If it needs to be really tough I use kevlar thread. I have built sheaths that have a divider. I’ve done both side by side and stacked. I have used molle clips, various webbing clips, teclocks, and g clips. The best solution for me was a velcro closed overlapping loop. Very reliable. Very compact.
I’ve been having a think about this and possibly the simplest solution is best for my purposes. Something along the lines of two pieces 1000D cut to size, stitched around three sides and partitioned somewhere in the middle to create two pockets for the tools. Flaps and velcro would be easy to add and I’m thinking of going old school and using Alice clips on the back. My main, everyday belt is a 43mm/1.7” web type so the Alice clips should work well.
I have been looking for the same sort of thing myself recently without much luck. I want a double pouch with a sliding clip so it can go on a belt or waste band. Best i’ve found so far is this company http://skinthsolutions.com/shop/
If you can find a suitable diameter double-mag set-up, it’s a quick and easy mod to sew the bottom to the proper length, or just drop in a filler block.
Thanks for the help everyone but it turns out the answer was staring me in the face all this time and it’s actually my Blackhawk double pistol pouch.
I did several mods to it:
Removed the original hook velcro on the flaps and replaced with longer pieces.
Removed the grab tabs on the flaps.
Removed, cut down and re-attached the molle attachment straps.
Pinched in and stitched at the top of one of the pockets to confortably hold the torch.
As you can see I’ve only got some props for the tools which are as near as accurate as possible but the proof will be in the eating when my LM Wave and torch arrive.
