I am looking for some spare o rings for my DQG Hobi. I bought some off ebay 4.5 mm X 1 mm, but they broke when I tried to stretch them on. They were from oringsandmore.
Welcome to BLF!
When the used ones broke, probable the size was a bit too small.
Thanks CRX,
I tried to use the site, but it did not work. The only payment it would let me use was scion or t/t I thought I could use paypal but that option was not available when I tried. Could not contact EDC because 404 error displayed when I clicked on the link.
Are there any other vendors for these o rings out there?
If you go beyond flashlight vendors and into industry there are a lot of companies who have them and make them. I’ve never ordered from apple rubber so i don’t know how kind they are to small orders, but they have a good selection of O-rings. There is a search tool to find the stock # of a given size of o-ring. You can find other US manufacturers of O-rings in the Thomas Directory.
Your name is a Basquiat reference yes?
Thank you.
I had a Golden Retriever named Woody
Ah. Yes it would have been a pretty obscure reference but one that is burned in my brain.
I was once in the same room with basquiat at his opening.
The ones in the edc site say they are 6mm X 1mm but it doesn’t say if the 6mm is the inside or the outside diameter. FastTech has some that are 6mm ID X 8mm OD X 1mm, if that is the right size (SKU 1536601). Can you measure the diameter you need? This thread seems to indicate another size. DQG III o-ring
There are other o-ring manufacturers that you can find on Google but I don’t know how easy or affordable it would be to buy just a couple from them.
The proper o-rings are about 7mm OD, 5mm ID, 1mm thickness BUT they need to stretch out to 11mm when fitted to the DQG lights so a soft silicone or similar material is required.
These can be really finicky to fit sometimes and often break when trying to install so when i get them i buy 40 or 50 a time, you soon go through them.
9 or 10mm x 0.5mm might work.
Why do they have to stretch so much? I don’t have any DQGs but I am pretty sure none of my lights required their O-rings to stretch to over 1-1/2 their actual size to fit. Could one not use a ring somewhere closer to the 11mm diameter that they apparently have to fit around? Dunno, just asking.
Also, did anyone contact the designer of the lights? I surmise that he designs them but farms out the manufacturing but it seems he would be a good source of info. From his website (http://www.duqingang.com/):

Thanks for everyones help. If someone out there has a website when I could order them in the USA I would appreciate it.
If anyone needs 10180 batteries from a USA location I found some for myself at $2.00 each.
nightowlgear.com Their site shows they have 7 left in stock
