DQG SPY 10110 Titanium Alloy with Trit

I got the DQG Ti VII 10440 a while back, I like the light and it replaced a Ti preon on my keychain due to its significantly smaller size. Problem was that the threads were so loose and the gasket did not sit properly so the head would always unscrew. After a few months i lost the head and battery and went back to the preon. I ended up finding the head and battery again after a week outside on the sidewalk ! Found a oversized gasket and carefully sanded it down on a bevel so it would compress well, lubed it up and now it works great and is back on my keychain.

If you get this light and the head is loose this is a must do mod if you want to keep all the parts.

Also while i like and own a Quantum DD it is SS instead of titanium and weighs way more than this light so its not really an apples-apples comparison.

Having said all this im still not getting one.

What do you folks that have 10180 lights use to charge the 10180 cells? Why wouldn’t the Nitecore Intellicharger i2 or i4 charge them?

I’ve got a simple (no display) cottonpickers 100ma and it works fine. (You’ll find him over here: http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?240304-gt-FS-Cottonpickers-Chargers-incl-Worlds-smallest-Li-ion-charger-with-display ) Great guy, btw. Wish he was here.

If you think the price is high, compare and contrast with a Lummi Wee… (assuming you can actually get your hands on one)

The little USB charger that came with my Quantum D2.

Thanks folks but again, why wouldn’t the Nitecore charger work?

The charge current in the nitecore would be too high and damage the 10180 cell.

Okay and thanks Matt.

No worries

Thanks for that ruffles. I ordered one.

I won this flashlight from the cnqg giveaway, so it’ll be interesting to test it when i receive it. I might need a new charger for the battery as well, since i don’t have one with such low current…

Maybe a tp4056 charging module could be used? Not sure what value to use on the sense resistor though.

I look forward to hearing what you think of the light

GP make 10180 li-ion cells. Try searching for the part number from their catalog.

Lighthound sell some but don’t have any in stock:

When I bought the quantum D2, I ordered 2 extra cells for it, but unless you intend to put the light through heavy use, 1 cell might be enough as they only take about 20 or 30 minutes to charge.
I only need 1 cell for my occasional use of this light as it is a backup, and if I’m in work I have a Solarforce L2M and Armytek wizard pro on me.

Fstoplights have 10180 cells. I got my AW’s there. Great quality cell. After light, occasional use and 2 months after a charge, the AW 10180 showed 4.08 volts.

P.s. The bottom of the plastic wrap on the cell had to be cut off to allow the negative contact of the cell to make contact with the flat base inside the quantum D2.

Well, I wanted to pull the trigger on this light so bad but with already having the latest versions of the DQG AA and DQG AAA and with all the hassles of getting lithium cells from overseas, I just couldn’t do it.

I guess I can live without it. If anyone gets one let us know what you think.

What are you on about.
It doesn’t use 10110 but 10180.

yes, but it said 10110 when it first appeared.

i have ordered tp4056 boards from ebay, and hopefully i’ll find some smd-resistors in my electro-junk that i can use to get a tiny charge amperage for the 10180 batteries.

With tp4056 boards a through hole resistor can work or a 0805 resistor. The original resistor is 0603 but 0805 did fit on the pads. FT $1.56 0805 3.9K-62K Resistor pack 270-Piece. 50mA should be ok, 0.56C (90mA 10180).

because it dosn’t use 10110 but 10180…

don’t worry about current, you can charge it in normal charger for Li-ion batteries, it will not brobably last you 1000 times charge but only 999 times… but you will charge them faster
