Dropped flashlight...help advice needed.

Hi guys. This is my first flashlight as a newbie back in 2009.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/aurora-wf-600-q5-2-mode-cree-led-flashlight-18650-3-6v-4-2v-8672

unfortunately i dropped it by accident and it now just fails to light up.anyone here who can guide me how to fix this thing?where do i look at first and how. and if all things fail what's the best replacement pill for this?should i get the a xpg or the newer xml or xre-r2 pill? its running on 1x 18650.

thanks

this happened to me a while back. the tailcap switch spring broke loose from the main board. yours might b a diff problem. 1st try inserting a batt and shorting the negative end to the body and see if it lights up. might make it easier if you have a digital multimeter. if it lights up then its the switch.

You may try asking member "2100" as he is in Singapore also and has the abilities, But i cant answer for him tho.

Dasfriek, well he is about 1500km away. :D

It's pretty difficult to repair, just have to tighten everything and test tailcap continuity or use a DMM to measure etc.

My advice is to not drop your flashlight. ;)

Just kidding, good luck with the repair.

tried shorting the battery to the body and it didnt light up.tailcap spring is still connected also. time to take a peek at the pill itself. thanks for the help guys.

when i asked for help at the other side no one answered.

I've got the HA111 version of that light, and I tried to undo the join between the head and the tube. after an hour with pipe wrenches, heat gun, bench vice, and some really fruity language, I gave up. (Since it was just a curiosity thing it wasn't a disaster).

Tried doing that same thing to no avail also. haha.

Remove the bezel and reflector and you gain access to the pill, take care when handling the reflector since it is plastic and very sensitive to scratches. Use needle nose pliers to undo the pill in the CCW direction.

thanks spambot.tested the light once again and isolated the problem to the switch. the drop must have jolted the connections inside. after taking apart the tailcap and re assembling the light is back to life once more.:)

next step is upgrading the led to an xml soon. a happy ending to my first light.:)

Good to hear. No surprise you got no answer on the other site. They all send their surefires back under warranty! lol
