E02 II passes the washing machine test

It is that time of year in the frozen north where the parka gets washed and put away. Forgot that the E02 II was still clipped to the parka. Came out of washing machine shinning bright

Not so sure any of my lights with built in charging would pass this test but I do think it is a critical requirement for a AAA or AA light to be able to pass. Never have wanted to force the issue but am happy that the E02 II joined a couple of Ti3s and a TH20 in passing this test!

You’re lucky!

Mine fell from the counter top into a porcelain sink - a drop of about 8ā€ - and it never worked again. I do have a second one, but I’m afraid to use it much if it’s as fragile as the first one.

This one just sits on the night stand for those 3 AM trips to the bathroom. Come to think of it, that’s where the first one met it’s end!

Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. Mine has had several drops much greater than that. Fragile is not a word that I would use to describe the light. Knock on wood the 3 examples I have have been rock solid and have withstood considerable abuse.

Just a shame the UI isn’t better. It’s essentially a 2 mode light, with a massive jump between low and high :frowning:

I’d buy a special BLF edition ramping UI, 519a version in an instant!

This is what happens when you drink too much of the Androolaide and close your mind to anything but.

Not really. The Manker UI is hold for ā€œmoonlightā€ group and click for normal group (two modes) then double click for turbo.

I don’t see an issue with all the modes being accessible without the two groups. Click for memorized mode, hold to start at the lowest and cycle up through all the modes. Like a bunch of e-switch lights that aren’t anduril. The separation of the modes into different groups isn’t needed.

So it’s not a two mode light? PebbleJockey confused me. So it’s useable as a normal flashlight?

It has a bunch of modes but the lower 5 or 6 modes are accessed via hold from off, then hold to cycle them. The next two modes (medium and high) are accessed via one click, then hold to cycle them. Each of those ā€œgroupsā€ has it’s own memorized mode. So hold for the memorized moonlight group mode, and click for the memorized normal mode.

Turbo is double click, and strobe is three clicks.

I think all the modes should just be in a single ā€œgroupā€ Click for last used mode and hold to start at the bottom, plenty of manufacturers do it that way with e-switch lights.

I didn’t mention a specific UI…

Stepped or continuously ramping to cycle through modes eg if you press and hold a ZL, it starts low, then med then high.

The manker is UI when using NiMh is:

Press and hold for ā€œeco modeā€ which is option of 6 levels between 0.1-15lm

Click for ā€œgeneral modeā€ which is 2 options 90lm or 220lm.

When either group is on, press and hold cycles through brightness levels, and have mode memory.

So in reality, from off, you have last used 0.1-15lm and 90 or 220.

Plus ludicrously bright turbo.

Glad to hear it passed the test, since I just acquired one of these lights. Haven’t washed a light recently. I think the last time was with an Arc AAA about fifteen years ago. I will periodically wash a memory stick full of music. It has passed the test, too.
