Eagletac GX253A

Hi guys. I’ve been away from these forums for long and it has been good for my wallet!
I just saw self built post a review of new eagle tac models (im subscribed to his youtube channel) and man the new models got me drooling…

The eagletac GX25 3A looks like an absolute winner!

Anyone tested it/bought it yet?

IMO

Lumintop SD10 is winner in this class

The SD10 is about 300 lumens dimmer, but takes a D or 32650, and costs less than half as much. It's currently available at hkequipment and one other shop I can't remember. It's on request at Fasttech. Should I add you to the list?

Erm, does the eagletac accept D cell config??

Do you see it in the tech specs? I don't. I only see 14500's and AA's. It's like a cross between the Nitecore EA4 and Trustfire TR-A9, except it takes 3 cells instead of 4.

I just checked the ui. Pretty horrible. I guess I’ll resist that one!

edit: It has a ‘regular’ UI with 100/40/0.5% output.
Pretty sweet.

Now if I was going to get an Eagletac flashlight in that style, I'd get this beast.

MT-G2

3x18650 or 6xCR123

2750 lumens

I have one and I like it much better than the Nitecore EA4. I had two EA4 lights I gave to family and friends with Eneloops and a charger.

the GX25A3 is compact and well made, especially the indexing cover that eliminates rotating contacts. The UI is fine for me, I have it set to come on the low mode. IMO, the only interface easier to use is the Nitecore Sens CR. It feels a little heavy in the hand. I have not noticed the parasitic drain like the EA4.

My light came with a plain end and a second one with a second button switch that is handy if you prefer an end switch and it has a momentary contact mode.

Would be an incredible light if they made it in a 3x14500 or 1x22650 configuration. Also lumens are a little lower...

  • Led lumen: 27505-2320/281/Strobe I/Strobe II
  • ANSI lumen: 23755-2006/243/Strobe I/Strobe II

No, I got it right.

The “5” is means that’s the output without power saving.

Ahh, I see. Still, not quite there though... I think it's kind of deceptive that Eagletac does not display only the ANSI numbers.

Either way it's a good start for MT-G2. I'd like to see a 2s2p version of this light that uses 18650's or bigger and really drive that MT-G2 hard.

MK, the GX25A3 looks like a winner to me too.

I’m also eyeing the SX25L3 w/XM-L2…

And the TX25C2…

And the SWM D40A…

The TX25C2 is on my shortlist. It's very compact, has excellent throw, and is currently one of the brightest single 18650 lights.

I'm thinking of selling off my SRT5 which I just got two days ago, and getting it instead.

I have one and really enjoy it!

I would have preferred something that accepts 18650s, so maybe similar to the Darth size or smaller if possible.

I got rid of my Nitecore EA4. The Eagletac is on my wish list!

Same. Except I got rid of my 3 EA4’s (1 CW AND 2 NW’s) and have the GX25A3 on order. I couldn’t get over the randomly different parasitic drain, sometimes they would last weeks or longer unused (especially the one I kept in our bedroom window would go forever without being used) and other times it (they) would drain fresh batteries overnight. In fact the only time I ever saw a NiMH completely drain and then reverse charge was in an EA4, it came out at -.21v, THANKFULLY they didnt take Li-ion, that could have been a “vent with flame” inducing event.

Whats the best price on those?

I really like the look of this light and contrary to most I think the 3AA (vs 4AA) is actually a good thing, in an emergency, have to scrounge up batteries situation, only needing 3 could mean the difference between a working light or being in the dark.

Why has the price of the GX25A3 not dropped any from the release several months ago? The EA4 and the D40A both showed up and within months could be had for 30%+ below MSRP, from what I can find this is staying steady right at$95. What’s up with that?
