In my part of Texas we are going to have a full (Annular) eclipse on the 14th.
Ring of fire type.
Going to sweep a goodly hunk of the western US.

Talking heads mouthing babble - on how we need the sun. Come on NASA.
still neat to watch.
Nice and clear but windy here.
Didn’t get as dark as expected. But it really cooled off.
Got a great show projected on the ground from openings in leaves in a big old oak tree in the backyard.
Hundreds of images of the eclipse.
Heard cheering from a schoolyard several blocks away.
Well, I guess I’ve been spoiled by seeing a total eclipse. This is my first annular eclipse and it is sorta anti-climatic to me.
Me too. Was in a total eclipse when I was a kid. Still a great light show on the lawn.
Over in Odessa an amateur got some neat shots of solar flairs.
Unfortunately too far away from the eclipse’s central path to observe it in full – so only 4% of the Sun was covered.
On the other hand, 2 solar spots were well visible:
(Photo taken with my smartphone camera from the projection screen of a custom-made solar projector device, from the outskirts of Santiago, Chile, approx. coordinates -33.7, -70.3. UTC time was 19:35:31).
Cool!
