Edc bag- Man purse/Sling?

Looking for a quality bag for EDC- Carry- glasses, flashlight, snacks for grandkids, wallet, phone, meds, water, etc. Sort of medium size- large enough for boat bag and small enough to throw in the truck daily.
I have tried a few but Maxpedition but dont care for the non removable straps.
A medium sling pack with compartments looks to be the best fit but still searching for a perfect size with straps that can be removed.

Hmm…
I use a nice JanSport backpack to carry my stuff, but the straps are not removeable.
Good luck in your search! :+1:

What type and how big… !?

I would prefer a sling bag with multiple compartments for small items and at least one for larger. Everyday/overnight bag but not necessarily a back pack.
High quality a must- no random amazon packs. Maxpedition has a few that I like but not with removable straps.

I use a Lowe Alpine hip pack to carry my edc handgun (usually a compact 9mm), a knife, flashlight (of course), wallet, etc. I use a Lowe Alpine sling when I’m in need of carrying more. eBay is great for the vintage Lowe Alpine packs from the 90’s and early 2000’s, which are so much better than the quality you find today.

Sorry for the late reply but I couldn’t resist as it’s a perfect fit for some of my favorite bags which are sometimes overlooked because of their specialist nature. I’d suggest taking a look at Domke camera bags. The largest satchel style ones (like the one I use) do not have removable straps. But many of the smaller and or more camera bag looking ones do. The J-803 and F-2 might fit your needs.

If you have taste and style this is the only correct answer.

$3,550.00! :open_mouth:

My EDC bag is a Helikon-Tex Satchel Bag. It has only one large compartment and some smaller pockets, but it’s very light, has lots of space, PALS webbing and a detachable strap. I made a stiff padding for it that helps to keep its shape and protects the bottom. And I swapped the zipper pullers for some better loops.

Worth every penny

Love me a Domke, but they tend to not have enough compartments for most people, and could do with some more padding. However, they certainly take quite a beating and keep working, especially once you’ve worn one in and it takes the shape of your body. Great bags.

I’m a bit of a hoarder, but for smaller carry, I’d go with a Hex Ranger Sling. Big enough for most people, but small enough that it can be easily swung around and out of the way. For larger carry, I really enjoyed the DSLR sling. Plenty of smaller dividers but not necessarily suited for EDC.

I ended up buying a vanquest mobius and maxpedition remora.
Use the mobius daily as it is capable of carrying alot of crap separated in its numerous compartments and pockets.
The Maxpedition is fantastic also but just to small for carrying all my gear including water bottle and large coffee cup along with a container of leftovers for lunch.
Anyone need a maxpedition remora I have no use for it.

Beware bags with strong magnets used fore latching.
A close swipe with a credit card can corrupt the card’s magnetic strip.

Do they still use the magnetic stripe? I thought it’s chip only nowadays.

In the U.S., I think all cards have a magnetic strip, and most have a chip.
It may be different in other countries. :+1:

Most places in the US have a chip reader now. But some older places might still use the stripe - also some older vending machines. And I’ve been a few places, a few years back, where the chip reader wasn’t working and needed the stripe.
I think all the CC, COs require a chip reader for new or upgraded installs.
