I’m clearly new here, though I’m accustomed to the forum scene because I’m a serial hobbyist (tho I know the general feel of forums vary a lot, even within the same hobby) I started on paintball forums around 2003 and still dabble in that scene today. I started ecarrying knives at some point too, which lead me to flashlight .
I love the idea of modifying or building/upgrading light and already picked up a light that will be the base of the project. No idea if its a good candidate to mod, or if it’s even possible to mod. But that’s part of the journey

A Jetbeam Jet 2 Pro Ti with funky ano. Considering they’re readily available, it’s probably either nor possible or not worth effort (hoping for the latter, doing stuff that’s not worth it is practically my specialty) Regardless I’m sure ill enjoy the light.
I plan on trying to stick with 18350 and 16340 because the Fenix E18Rv2 and and Olight Baton Turbo sparked my interest in flashlights.
So far Ive picked up Reylight Dawn from CountyComm because their GovX discount made it too tempting to pass up and a Sofirn SC13A to try out Anduril. They’ve been my only real ‘enthusiast’ purchases I’ve made besides the Jetbeam. The Convoys look tempting tho.
My very first Paintball Gun(Marker) was a PMI AutoTrracer.
I had close to 20 different models throughout the years.
I was particularly fond of my WGP AutoCocker, probably because I had around $600 invested in it.
Given the wide range of stock “enthusiast” lights, and the highly customisable ordering options (e.g “Hank lights” at intl-outdoor, and Convoy), there’s lots of mods that could be considered to be not worth the effort, however, it’s important to not underestimate the value of human creativity and “fettling” with things if that’s what you enjoy.
Oh buddy, do I know about autocockers. The guy who got me into paintball was a tournament playerñd from the mid 90’s and let me use his heavily modified r/f all the time so I got into autococker right as the Halo dropped and the BPS wars took off. Suddenly $1200 autocockers from 2 years prior were selling for $200-300. I still kept tournament marker but my passion was buying old cockers and checking them out. My favorite is probably Belsales but AKA is hard to nor mention. Last couple years or so i built two full minicocker builds based on an Angry and a Klingon body. Or and found LNIB 99 Belsales Evolution that was a built along side the Miami Race team guns. Just found a pic of it
Oh they are, by far, the best style detent in my experience. They’re known simply as a ‘wire detent’ they reach farther into the breech, cause less wear on the bolt, neve r jam, and never wear out. The only catch about them is if the end of the wire becomes scratched in some way (usually only happens when using an aluminum bolt). In the situation, of wire will shred every ball it contacts and it gets messy quick. They are rare because WGP started drilling ball detent holes in all their autococker bodies ~97. The bodies had to be special ordered undrilled.
Nope least it’s never been an issue for me. The wire is bent in a manner where it’s nice and rounded on the end. But I’ve only started use bolts with tip orings in last few years after they were proven and to increase efficiency by a sizeable amour (like 20-30%).
I also use urethane orings on my bolts and other dynamic seals like the ram and 3way since they resist abrasion better ths buna. Plus i prefer a 90duro tip oring well which also helps
