Efest 3400mAh 18650

Thanks to Alba Vapours I now have my hands on an Efest 3400mAh protected 18650 battery.

At 1A they leave the likes of AW and Xtar 3100mAh trailing:

The high discharge pcb allows 5A constant discharge without a problem:

I have a question, however: It seems like with any discharge test I see from you or anyone else, the capacity is almost always slightly below the manufacturer's claimed mAh capacity - in this case ~ 3230 vs 3400 mAh. Why is that? Is it exaggeration on their part or is it because of the nature of your test, ie, discharge at 1 mAh does not measure all capacity? I am just curious for my own sake - not a reflection on testing methodology or complaint,

It is because he discharges down to 2.75v while the manufacturer recommends 2.5 volts.

Also keep in mind that Panasonic rates the NCR cells @ 0.2C discharge, so for the 3100mAh cell that is a 620mA current. The higher the discharge current , slightly lower the capacity (this really depends on cell model). You can see that nicely in HKJ's reviews.

Panasonic test at 250mAh down to 2.5v at 25 degrees. Lower current, lower cut off voltage and higher temperature all lead to higher capacity result

This does not look good. I hope it is you test equipment and not the battery that has a high resistance.

I look forward to seeing how the Efast does in HKJ’s test too. It looks ok at 1A here, but not good at 5A.

I was expecting better at 1A also. The internal resistance is ok, and I doubt if the Panasonic cell would be sub standard (but there’s a first time for everything). I only have one sample, but more on the way. I expect another batteryb would perform better.

A second 5A discharge produced a better result, I’ll post s graph shortly. Maybe this battery needs a few charges to reach peak performance.
