Elden Ring on PC, Performance?

Just curious if anyone here has tried the new Fromsoft game on PC. If you have, what are your specs and how did it go?

I noticed the release for PS4.

If it gets good reviews for PS4, I'll eventually get it.

My laptop and desktop are ancient, so I doubt they would be able to play the game.

Damn, It won’t run on my 486DX2 66

I hear the PS4 version is actually the best way to get locked 60 fps…on a PS5. :person_facepalming: But as with most games there are people who claim it runs flawlessly on their computers. I’m just curious what kind of specs those people have and if there is a pattern. Maybe the game dislikes a certain CPU architecture or something.

My PC was pretty badass when I built it in 2016 but is starting to show it’s age. The main components are an i5 6600k (Intel Gen 7) and a GTX 1070 with 16gb ram. My CPU is actually below system recommendations for Elden Ring which is a little disturbing considering we’re talking about a Fromsoft game. They’ve never exactly pushed the envelope in terms of graphics or physics. Then again, my CPU released in Q3 2015 and has a mere 4 cores and no multithreading. I probably shouldn’t be surprised.

I changed my earlier post...

Now it says:

"If it gets good reviews for PS4, I'll eventually get it."

...

I don't know if I'll be getting a PS5 though.

About 60 fps...

I have watched video that is 30 fps and video that is 60 fps, and they look the same to me.

I mean, anything under about 24 fps looks pretty bad to me, but very high fps doesn't do much for me even though I know that it's better.

I guess I should be happy that 24 fps looks fine to me.

I got a PS5 just so I wouldn’t have to listen to my PS4 sounding like a airplane taking off when playing my current collection. The PS5 is a lot quieter with titles like God of War and Bloodborne. In terms of PS5 exclusives…well there are almost none. They are at the point of counting upgraded games as “exclusives” on top-ten lists lol

I only really play single-player exclusives on console now so I don’t have any plans to get Elden Ring for console. I don’t keep up a PSPlus subscription all the time, I just grab it when it is on sale or if a friend wants to play a specific game and I need Plus to play it. Besides, sometimes you can tweak things on PC

BTW for the record, I did NOT buy a scalped system. I monitored nowinstock.com for weeks and got lucky one day.

My PS4 is quiet, but my PS3 is pretty loud.

I replaced the fan in my PS3, but it made little difference.

What's strange is that my sister's PS3 is quiet, and it's practically the same Slim model.

I should note that both PS3 consoles were bought used because the brand new ones cost a fortune.

(My Slim PS4 I got brand new.)

Did you buy your PS3s after they were discontinued? I thought the pricing was pretty reasonable back in their prime. Like $300 or something. Mine is one of the Slim models. 3000 series I think, which sadly means no permanent jailbreak. It’s in solid condition though.

I actually replaced the thermal paste on my PS4 to try to fix the noise but it didn’t seem to help. Maybe I should try again with more expensive paste.

Yes, and they're both exploited with the permanent jailbreak.

I always wear headphones when I play my PS3, so I rarely hear the loud fan--it could be much worse.

Let’s just say performance on most plaforms with that game isn’t exactly good.

Remember, don’t preorder software: it just encourages bad behaviors :stuck_out_tongue:
