(Email is coming with tracking )Discussion Thread.-- 1st BLF Titanium flashlight with tritium.

Wow. Good stuff. The design is iffy for me but I’d probably still get one, as long as there is a solid clip! Yes, a d10 clip is fine. I.suggested McGizmo or clone clip for ease of purchasing vs building one. If you build a d10 clip that would be great too. Whatever you prefer.

McGizmo Clip, 25$? nope. I'd prefer build one, to save your money.

Sure. Any elegant and strong clip would be great!

And maybe sell the titanium clips separately as well.

Nice titanium clips are hard to find on a budget.

I agree. Makes it easier to get minimum order quantity. A nice d10 clone clip? I’ll buy a few extras.

Original?

CPF KUKU?

The second (kuku) maybe with a second tapered slot instead of the holes to pick up the tapered grooves in the host.

Kuku is a good one. It has complete holes on the side of the clip, much sturdier back plate and screws. Also make sure the screws for a real sized hex key. The original d10 clip had lousy screws that were in between sizes. Even the included tool was awful.

Is the light going to be available with and without the clip? I don’t really want to have to buy a Ti clip when I’m just going to remove it and never use it again.

Clip is extra.

Edit: Clip Optional.

any more real pics?

It took some hard time to find a proper Ti material, but finally it's on the machine now.

Hmmm. No pictures?

and video's! I love watching lathe-work

That thing looks like part of the building.

Has anyone here ever seen a lathe as clean as that one? Geesh!

Yes. Mine, about 30 something years ago.

I propose we look into have the heads quotes out of Cu.

First thermodynamics, is complicated.

Second if we make the head out of copper the material cost should be lower then Ti and the difficulty in machining should be lower thus resulting in a lower net cost (we will need to see if the quote says the same thing?).

As this is a host the guts are on us and design should be standardized so commercially availible “guts/parts” fit. (my pitch is we look to RMM for help)

Thierd If you want an Alu head then just use the one off the (host used for the guts).

If we assume that the air absorbs heat at a constant rate then the hotter the head the better it will shed “heat” (choose your metric, calories, joules, BTU or Watts).

Heat transfer coefficient

Heat sink

“Heat transfer by radiation is a function of both the heat sink temperature, and the temperature of the surroundings that the heat sink is optically coupled with. When both of these temperatures are on the order of 0 °C to 100 °C, the contribution of radiation compared to convection is generally small, and this factor is often neglected. In this case, finned heat sinks operating in either natural-convection or forced-flow will not be affected significantly by surface emissivity.”

I asked the tech the stop the machine and open the window, so I can take a picture.
