I just got one of these as well in black and it is working great. Charges iPhones, iPads, ebook readers (kobo and Sony) actually everything usb chargeable so far.
Only downside is that protected cells don’t fit (at least my kumabob Panasonic 3400’s don’t)
The first one, is very good if you want to use AA batteries. I measured around 1Amp with my cellphone when charging, not bad at all. The only problem is, that it doesn’t have reverse polarity protection…

I’ve got one that looks just like that, and it’s fine, except it drains batteries slowly over time. So I have to remember to put a thin bit of plastic between the batteries and the contacts.
