Sounds great. I’ll probaly order a D4 once I’m happy with the D1. I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy from what I’ve been reading.
I’m back to report that the Solarforce L2-PC-2 pocket clip that others have recommended works great on the D1!
I spent a few minutes removing the lanyard clip and enlarging the hole to slip past the tail threads. I used a Dremel with a small sanding drum and cooled the clip periodically with a damp rag.
To make up for the gap created by the clip, I formed a piece of 14 AWG copper wire into a circle, flattened it, and fit it into the tailcap.
I removed the tail o-ring, slid the clip on, then replaced the o-ring. Seems like it would still keep water out.
The tailcap tightens down snugly and still allows the clip to rotate with a little effort. I’m very pleased with the fit.
I got two of the clips from Amazon for about $16 shipped.
Mine both have the SOLARFORCE logo etched on them. Others have mentioned they got blank ones.
That is an awesome engineering accomplishment you achieved. That is one thing I wish I had on my D4. I see there is a pocket clip available for the D4 now in case you were unaware. It doesn’t appear to be available separately though.
Slargo83: atbglenn: Slargo83: atbglenn: Slargo83: atbglenn:My order from Mountain Electronics is still saying “complete” since the 23rd. Does that mean it’s in stock?
That just means they received your order. I placed an order for the 3A grey version on Friday morning and just got a shipment notification about an hour ago.
Thanks I ordered it in green along with the 18350 tube. I’m pretty excited about it.
Nice! I wanted the green one with the 3A but it was unfortunately unavailable so I went with grey. Your order will say shipped where it once said complete once it has been shipped. I too am pretty excited about it
I’m going to be using an Aspire 1100mAh 18350 with it. I’ve got 4 in stock ready for action.
Nice! I also have 5 of those batteries. They work amazingly well with the Emisar D4. I’d imagine that with the lower amperage draw of the D1 compared to the D4 that they’d work the same as an 18650 in it.

Oh you will for sure. I liked my first D4 so much I order 2 more asap before they were unavailable. They go fast!

Thanks! I can’t take credit for the idea. I just wanted to post a photo showing how the Solarforce clip interacts with the larger head of the D1.
Several other members have posted about fitting a ‘captive’ pocket clip on their D4. I liked these as opposed to the ‘clip-on’ clips that others have found compatible.
Here are a few, in no particular order:
emarkd mounted a similar ‘Overready’ clip
CRX used a ‘PK Paladin’ clip on a D4
noboneshotdog used a Solarforce clip and a copper ‘wave washer’ on a D4

Definitely! I much prefer yours as opposed to the clip-on ones. I wonder which variation will come with the new D4. Hopefully not a clip-on.
blue D4 ;)
Thanks for compiling this. I been having a hard time searching for and finding photos of clips people are using on their D4. Hard to find stuff in threads.

Nice colour my friend. :+1:

+1.
That blue is sexy!
I want a blue D4! Lol
It seems the first person to put dedomed SST-40 in D1 is Vinh:

He says dedoming improves very little though and so he sell it with a dome.
I ordered D1 on the first day, got it today.
I don’t agree that the 18350 feels awkward, for me it’s comfortable.
Can’t wait till the night

Is it me or are those numbers a bit weird.
Seems very weird… I don’t see how a domed sst-40 can out throw the xp-l hi.
I was curious also, do you think somehow with such a smallish reflector the extra output (lumens) would cause the difference. I know that an xpl hi should theoretically out throw a domed sst-40. I am a novice when it comes to modifying flashlights, although I am trying to learn, so I could very likely be wrong.

Yesterday I asked Neal If it is possibble to order D1 without led and star because I want to put in a dedomed SST40 :sunglasses:

My tests about SST40 and XP-L HI shows these numbers in the same C8 host and FET driver:
XP-L HI V2 1A:
5,9A, 1434 lumens, 93100 Cd, 610m
SST40 with dome:
8,6A, 2232 lumens, 70500 Cd, 531m
SST40 dedomed:
8,6A, 2000 lumens, 136300 Cd, 738m

Wow!!!
I need some SST40 emitters? Where do you get them? Mountain Electronics is out of stock. :weary: I guess maybe Kaidomain? Anyone know of any vendors selling 5000K SST40?
I bought mine from kaidomain. Perfect dome, no bubbles and any defects in the dome.
I wonder why vin had virtually the same result with his domed vs dedomed sst40s? Your results show that it’s far superior throw without the dome.
