Emisar D18 introduction

Have to revive this thread…

After around 1 year and 1 month of very light use (turbo max. 15-20 min, maybe total runtime 3 hours) the driver of my 148 $ D18 (CSLPM1.TG) failed.
the LEDs itself, AMC and MCU incl. firmware still works fine, only the FET mode (and on/off) does not work. MOSFET is totally blown.

I asked Hank for a replacement, but as soon I got the price, I was shocked…

35 $ + 8 $ shipping.

Wow. For this driver, 43 $ (!) in total.

Ordered 10 pcs WSD2090DN56 MOSFET for around 11 $ so I can replace it by myself. Don’t want to accuse Hank with anything, but this price seems way too high for this type of driver with only a few (relatively cheap) parts on it, and he states on his site, that spare parts are non-profit: “4. If it’s over 12 months we will only charge the exact cost (non-profitable for us)”

I roughly calculated the price for all components on the PCB based on Aliexpress consumer prices, including cables and brass pill underneath, and it was around 7 $.
The real cost is likely lower. I can’t imagine that just the PCB alone costs almost $30 here.

And btw, since a new driver would be prone to failure due to insufficient heat dissipation, I have to build a heatsink for this MOSFET… yes, I feel ripped off, tbh. Hopefully I am wrong.
