Emisar D4K Water damage

After testing the waterproofness (10cm for 2min) of the D4K i noticed some moisture inside the light.

I turned the light off, took the battery out and put it all with the lens off in some rice overnight.
Today I tested it and the light turns on fine, ramping works too but something is off .

I can’t adjust brightness or color of the aux LEDs and i can’t enter strobe mode.

Might there still be some moisture in the light or is this permanent damage?

Both is possible, but remaining water is more likely for now. Permanent damage might occur later with the moisture inside the flashlight. Also rice is an extremely bad way of drying things. It doesn’t absorb water like you think and the dust creates even more problems. Just let it dry in a well ventilated area for some days.

I always laugh my ass off when I read about putting items to rice to get it dry.

After getting water inside it should be immediately dismantled, washed in isopropyl alcohol (best in ultrasonic cleaner)and dried.
Now you have nice paper weight.

I dropped my phone in the toilet some time ago. It was an older Samsung with removable battery.

It was dead. Would not turn on for 10 hrs. Then it started showing signs of life. The next morning, completely back to normal.

It worked for another two years until I traded it in for a newer model.

I think you will be fine if you leave it overnight, especially in a super dry place like a boiler room.

BTW, none of these Chinese sweat shop lights are water proof. The IPX rating is not checked by anyone so don’t put too much reliance on it.
