Emitter swapping Wuben C3?

Has anyone done it successfully?

I have one, and it’s built like a tank - not sure if the bezel is possible to unscrew to access the emitter - and what type of PCB the emitter is housed on…?

I haven’t got experience with the C3, but I have opened up my Wuben L50 last year and if the C3 is build somewhat the same as my L50, then it’s not “a fun thing to do”!

The bezel of my L50 was firmly glued together and it a lot of heating and force to finally get it loose. (I already scratched the bezel in the process and I was basicly at the point that I didn’t care if I would destroy it, but I put as much force as needed and would see if the flashlight would survive.)

In the end I managed to get it open (with unfortunately scratches on the bezel). The other downside was that Wuben used a custom PCB, with the driver wires sticking straight up through the PCB and where directly soldered to the upside of the PCB; no “90 degree turn” as the wires have in most flashlights. So I had to use the same PCB and reflow on that or if I wanted to use another PCB I had to drill new holes in the head and I probably would also have needed to remove the driver and solder longer wires on that too.

In the end I decided not to mod it, because it wasn’t worth all the extra effort I would have to put in to get it done. I also was somewhat dissapointed to see that Wuben had used a ‘plastic’ reflector cup, although in the end it doesn’t harm the performance, I would’ve rather seen an aluminium reflector in such a flashlight.
