Eneloop AA/AAA... Ni-MH... Ni-MH everywhere!

I’m looking into buying some NiMH’s in the near future; the price from amazon seemed a bit off-putting, I can’t recall ever seeing Amazon beat an FT price on batteries… raised a bit of a red flag.

Amazon:
Eneloops

FT:
Eneloop AA
Eneloop AAA

They all seem to be Gen 2 Eneloops by my eye, but the amazon pictures don’t exactly line up with the selected pack size and type.

Am I safe to go with Amazon on these? I’ve got free-2day ship for a few more months.

To be sure, check the code. Here’s a guide to the different codes for each generation/size:

That is what I was looking at, but the amazon pictures don’t all quite match up.

I.e. looking at 4pk AA, shows AAA in the bottom-most picture.

Also the technical details, unless they require decoding, don’t match up to codes listed in the giant eneloop list thread.

All the Eneloops I’ve bought from Amazon are legit. The descriptions are often wrong, but the batteries are legit.

Alright cool, I’ll start off with a pack of 4 just to be on the safe side.

I’ve bought quite a few Eneloops from Amazon, all have been legit

Ditto!

Amazon is where I buy mine too. I just watch for sale prices on them, by using camelcamelcamel.com and my wish list.

Amazon is cheaper but there are several sellers and make sure to get the 3rd generation.

I didn’t update my search but I know that I bought a 16 pack for a good bulk price a few months ago.

Alright, so I’ve gone through about 80 AAA alkaline and about 100 AA over the summer(Got them on ridiculous sale during black friday of last year). I’ve got ~10 AAA left, and ~25 AA left.

So I’m going to pick up ~12-16 Eneloop AAA and ~12 AA for trailcam/remotes. A couple questions remain after I spent quite a bit of time researching NiMH batteries.

1. Can’t seem to find a definite answer as far as priming the new Eneloop batteries goes. Do I need to?
2. Are there any issues that would arise from placing 8 Eneloop AA in a trailcam for a period of 2-3 months?

No.
