Is there a reason why the Enlan El-01 can’t have a thumb stud?
In a week, I’ll ask Lazy Lizard to mod a EL-01 with one, amongst other things like washer upgrade and acid-stonewash.
My dream knife would be a combination of Enlan El-01’s solid profile with El-02’s fast-closing axis-lock mechanic and thumb stud. No milling to preserve max weight, plus a copper scale to match my copper torch. Maybe in the grip are slots for 3x25mm tritium vials.
Here is how I picture it (without the copper or trits or acid-wash):
I agree, most of the knives of mine that have both I take the thumbstuds off, leaving a small spydey hole in the blade.
Jayc, if you want to add one without drilling the blade, not an easy thing after the blade has been heat treated and has hardened, then here’s the answer. Add on thumbstuds from USAKnifemaker. They might look a bit odd at first but they are an option. Good bit of Photoshopping by the way.

If the detent is hard to overcome you can try carefully bending the liner lock outwards so it puts less pressure on the detend ball and blade, should make centring the blade easier as well.
Nice photoshopping JAY, you might check out some Ganzos that have axis locks. The liners aren’t milled out usually either. I don’t like thumbstuds unless they are necessary to open the blade myself.
I didn’t realized that.
I play with the axis-lock a lot which has more than one way of opening, so I want that for my EL-01 too. I’m into knife for the flicking action. After seeing JackTheClipper’s picture, I think there might be a way to add a wave-mod without breaking the sideways profile, by having the 8steve88’s pressure-held thumb stud stick out to snare clothing.
I’m buying 10 copper PCB’s to fill the milled-out holes. (The sacrifices may be a slight sin for a flashaholic.)
They sell bars as well as studs, you are right about the studs catching your clothes and unlike a wave they don’t let go.
The bars are a bit more low profile. Thumb bar.
