Fasttech copper stars and LED's. quick questiion...

If any of you have used these led mounts from fasttech, do you know if they are direct thermal path?

Thanks Matt

I really don’t care for fasttech emitters or sink pads are typically mounted in aluminum and can’t handle heat or high current well

I am considering ordering a couple of 5D’s and they are out of bare emitters, but have the emitter mounted on a 16mm copper. Are there emitters no binned correctly or what? Are the copper mounts not direct thermal path? It will go into a hard driven S2+.

matt

No they’re not DTP

yeah those aint a DTP but they are cheap and can be made DTP …but we are already 2015 and there is Noctigon, so

Thats not entirely true, FT got some realy good emitters

Hi,

I guess you consider SKU1682105.

The MCBCB looks like that of the XM-L2 T4 7B (SKU1682100) I bought a year ago. That one is not direct thermal path. Copper though, but not DTP. I used the emitter elsewhere and kept the MCPCB for further use (as a copper spacer…).

.

Basically I am looking for an XM-L2 5D emitter and they are out of the loose emitters. I will wait and see if they come back into stock soon.

You can request them but i'm guessing they ain't never coming back .IMHO that isn't what has normally happened when they sell out of an emitter .

The stars aren’t DTP and the epoxy is not easy to scrape off by hand. A dremel works well. Also, the bottoms of the stars are not perfectly flat so you may have to lap them a bit. (Which makes Noctigons a better buy. lol)
